Performance notes: After the "your eyes make a circle" verse of I Will Follow, Bono adds "into the heart, into the heart of a child". Also, Edge breaks guitar strings during both Sunday Bloody Sunday and Angel Of Harlem - in the former, Bono sings "I won't heed the battle call/Edge broke a string, it don't mean nothing at all", while after the latter, he comments that he sometimes forgets Edge is human. Pretty great show..unfortunate that Edge breaks strings at 2 different points in the night (1 during Sunday Bloody Sunday, and 1 during Angel of Harlem), and he also has a tuning problem that throws the band off at the beginning of "All I Want is You". That's the reason this only gets a 3.5. Otherwise, your typical spirited Elevation Tour show.
Sound
I listen to bootlegs frequently, and I've never *almost* stopped listening to a show as many times as I did here. With all due respect to the tapers/mixers, this matrix is not mixed properly. That, or the sources just weren't meant to merge. The IEM takes up the majority of the matrix, making the clicks still very audible, and the IEM frequency is overtaken by buzz and even interfering radio signals every once in awhile. Makes "Kite", among many other songs, almost unlistenable due to fuzz.
Audience
Probably great that night, but hard to hear on the bootleg, as the IEM takes up most of the matrix.
Overall
I just can't get past the fuzziness of the sound and the strange EQ left by the weird matrix job. If you're going for this one, I recommend the audience source- I tried the matrix, and it's going to make me stay as far away from this show as I can.
I feel bad for the band, as this was probably a great show, it just doesn't shine through in lasting memory like so many others. I did enjoy "The Fly", even though there was a lot of static in that one too. The Edge's guitar is very much at the front of the sound, and it's a very in-your-face performance. Other than that, and the mild amusement Edge's guitar troubles bring, this show is entirely forgettable.
