Performance notes: After winning the Harp Lager Talent Contest in March 1978 and receiving the chance to record a demo funded by CBS, U2 play a studio set on an unknown date in April 1978. The session came to an end after Larry's father arrived. Night Fright and Inside Out are the only two songs definitively known to have been recorded at this session. Sources are unclear as to what the other two songs are; some list Concentration Cramp and Hang Up! in addition to Night Fright (sometimes labelled under the name Tonight) and Inside Out. Bootlegs containing recordings of Trevor and Jack in a Box are purported to be from this session, but the differing audio quality and live appearances of both lead us to believe they were from a session in February 1980.

Performance

(note: i didn't download this from here i got it as part of the White Sapote fruitleg)
Their very first recording session ever :O
Average performace since they were only teenagers but I love early U2 so i gave it 4.5 stars
They do really interesting stuff. A song called Tonight, A song called Inside out which i herd was the only one that was actually finished since Larry had exams the next day and had to go home early. An early version of Touch called Trevor is also interseting to find (there is a live version on the National Stadium boot) and Jack ina box

Sound

It's really crackly and muffled but what do you expect from a recording made in early 1978? You can still hear the songs OK. Really good for a 1978 demo on a cassette tape.
