1. I mean, I'd be really surprised if the show didn't change in a big way next year. I think the new album will (hopefully) be out or either coming out by then, they'll have had time to rehearse those songs and possibly different older songs to work into the set, and the current show as we know it will be changed. More like an evolution than a complete change though.
  2. It will be like ZooTV – expanded when it comes to outdoor shows.
  3. Finally have a chance to listen to a show or two since going to Chicago 1. A few more random thoughts:

    - The run of Sunday Bloody Sunday > Raised by Wolves > End of the World works quite nicely. The transition between SBS and RbW is especially powerful in person. My kid about jumped out of his skin during the explosions.

    - The Wanderer was pretty cool too. Watching the animation of Johnny Cash age through the video seemed to fit with not only that song, but also the show.

    - Invisible > Real Thing is the only part that they sorta lost me. I actually like Invisible quite a bit, but maybe it needs to be placed elsewhere. The second half of the show needs a better opener imo (maybe California?) and they can ditch Real Thing altogether at this point.

    - Mysterious Ways was a crowd pleaser and I enjoyed it more than I usually do. Probably coz it woke the place back up after Invisible > Real Thing. Also as I mentioned earlier... DISCO BALLS!!!!

    - I liked Ordinary Love much better live than I have the studio version.

    - I'm as sick as anybody of hearing Pride on seemingly every boot since 1984, but it still makes for a great live song when you are at the show.

    - I know everyone else is clamoring for Shine Like Stars and I agree. The song seems incomplete or at least, not as good without it and Love Will Tears Us Apart. Why can't Bono let us have anything nice?

    - Streets would be a better closer than Still Haven't Found although I didn't hate it as a closer. I think that maybe it works better in person.

    1. I did not realize this until someone pointed it out to me. I am quite oblivious, it seems.

    2. I can't remember if I said this on here or not, but Pride is selling me more than Streets this tour. For the first time ever, it seems like Streets is sort of going through the motions somehow. Pride, however, goes off without a hitch every single night.
  5. I was also less than impressed with Streets.

It didn't have the impact for me that it usually does.
  6. I still had goose bumps over my entire body in streets last night
  7. I can never grow bored of Streets. It always sends chills down my spine and gets me pumped up!
  8. A question taken from the Chicago thread:

Actually I don't think it will change, at least not until Dublin. I'm pretty much convinced of the narrative theory in which the Wanderer has a clear function of bridging the end of innocence (UTEOTW) with the beginning of experience (Invisible, maybe someday rotated with Crystal Ballroom…). At this point I don’t see alternatives that are as good as The Wanderer, even more so because I think they also use the intermission to have a little rest. I mean, I think that Numb could also be used but it would be a little odd when they don’t play it live. The beauty of The Wanderer is not only to bring the voice and spirit of Johnny Cash (possibly to reflect the words of a wise man), but that the band has the perfect “excuse” of not playing it themselves (although it would be brilliant, it would also ask a lot of their stamina!).
But now I come to think of it, possible contenders might be Roy – the big “O” – Orbison’s She's a Mystery to Me or Leonard Cohen’s Tower Of Song (with or with out U2).
  9. oh ok
    you make sense

Altough I think Johnny Cash is great and the Wanderer intermission is cool, I also think that they might change it in Europe since Cash, I think not sure about this, is a very typical American hero who doesn't have the same kind of status in Europe. That might be a reason to change the intermission.

Not that I really care to be honest, I think the intermission is great as it is now and a change wouldn't be shocking to me.
  11. Jonny Cash is also a hero in Europe. A Legend
