  1. That's crazy. ahn1991 did GA for LA 4 and he can confirm you that it's enough to arrive around 6, 6:30 pm and get excellent spots to enjoy the spectacle.

    I got there at 9:00 am for LA 4 and got 333 in line. On the opposite side of that, my dad showed up at 1:30 pm for LA 1 and got 400th. We both had excellent spots. I ended up on the Red Zone rail and had a great time. My old man ended up on the E stage, 3rd row. I will say with it being a weeknight, you'll have a little more leeway with getting there late.

    Here is my GA experience for LA 3 (not 4, wish I was there though). I showed up at around 3:40 pm because I had work, so I was too late to get a number/wristband early. The way the system works is that the first 500 people have secured GA spots and everyone else lines up after them. Supposedly, the "reserved GA line" locks in at 5 pm and everyone has to line up with the non-reserved people after that. They were a bit late to close the reserved line, but it didn't really matter. I noticed non-reserved people lining up at around 4:30, so that's when I lined up. They start checking in people and letting you in at around 6-6:30. When I got in, I ended up spending a bit of time getting a drink/using the bathroom since they didn't give GA access to the facilities after 4pm. When I got on the floor, the area closest to the "I" stage was packed already. However, the "e" stage was still relatively empty. I ended up staking a spot right by the "e" stage because I was told that's where Bono enters the venue (they were right and I got a sick video of Bono entering the stage. He rejected my handshake offer though).

    I don't know if you are trying to be spoiler free, but let me tell you that there is no "sweet spot" on the GA floor because of the way the show is designed. The action is a moving target and the best place to enjoy yourself is constantly moving as well. I went to LA 3 spoiler free and found myself roaming the floor the entire night to get different perspectives of the actions. I'm pretty sure some people would frown upon my actions, but I honestly felt so excited to be running around, trying to keep up with the show. It was a great experience, easily the best experience I've ever had at a concert. Note that I was GA for the 360 debut of The Fly along with their Glastonbury setlist (Anaheim 2) and it was my very first U2 gig ever, so for me to say that my GA experience in LA 3 topped that is huge, relatively speaking.


    Anyways, if I were to do it again I wouldn't even have bothered to try and get there super early because in the end it didn't even matter. Now if you want to be right in front for the first 4 songs, then yes you might want to get there early. But note that if you stay there you will miss out on a lot. Personally, I would probably show up at around 4:30 to be first of the "non-reserved GA". Not everyone that gets a number ends up coming back in time, so you can still get a decent spot.

    If there is anything important to remember, it is that GA loses access to the bathrooms at The Forum strictly at 4 pm, so there were many fans who were upset to discover that they spent half a day waiting only to spend 2.5 more hours waiting on a full bladder. Also, remember that as GA you paid for the entire floor so you might as well use it. I was never in the same place for more than one song and I think the experience was well worth it.
  7. Thanks for sharing your experience Alex! I think I might opt for a similar experience (running around following the show and enjoying it from a distance) if I do multiple GAs eventually. Not suitable for one night stands though, in my opinion.
  8. It really does depend on your personal situation. I would say that the best chance of interacting with the band would be towards the center catwalk. You'll miss the visuals on the screens because you're so close, but the band will literally be right there. I really like how IE and 360 have really destroyed the general perceptions of GA (basically that you had to get super close to the stage to have a good time).



    Actually, I think it would be interesting to be right next to the "e" stage because Bono likes to spit water on the crowd during the show. I mean, how many people can say they got spat on by Bono?

    This beats all my Starbucks stories.
    So at the Forum for the U2 show last night... Late 40's/50-something lady was dancing to pre-show music. Soon enough fans noticed her in the stands and mimicked her. She saw and got that much more into it. Loads more in GA in following her lead. It was cool and fun.
    But then she got a bit more... Adventurous? First lifting her shirt, then her bra and then some jumping up and down.
    I'm sure there's video out there. Me thinks that in her early years... She might have been an exotic dancer? LOL.
    Her hubby or date finally talked her into sitting down. I think he might have thought security were on the way. They weren't.
    Only in LA.
