  1. In this series we will be regularly interviewing fans during the tour to ask them about their personal experiences. Today we have an interview with AZtrucker, who attended the second Phoenix show. His last U2 show was in 2001 and his first show was in 1985, all in California or Arizona.

    Describe your feeling after attending the show in Phoenix: how was it?
    My feeling after the show (Phoenix 2015-05-23) was joy & adrenaline. A lot of energy around the arena, inside & out.

    This is your first U2 show since 2001, can you compare the two shows? How different was it?
    Obviously more songs to choose from on this tour, but I liked the more subtle Elevation tour set up a bit more, with the house lights up a lot of the time & less video effects. Just personal preference from an older person I suppose.

    Did you like the stage and how it contributed to the whole show experience?
    I very much liked the stage going from one end to the other, and no back drop behind the band feels more intimate I think. But being at one end of the arena (The small stage end) the video screen didn't do much for me.

    What was the best performance of the night?
    All the SOI songs & the Achtung Baby songs came off great. I think Raised By Wolves following Sunday Bloody Sunday was my favorite.

    It has been 30 years since your first U2 show, how would this one rank in your all-time list? How did U2 evolve over the years?
    Simply because of the material available each tour seems better than the last. At each moment in time though, Zoo TV was my favorite tour. I really like that the whole band has become much more personable over the years. During the UFF & Joshua tree tours I don't think much personality was seen from the band. The their music has always been amazing and has meant the world to me.

    One last thought.. U2 has had some great bands opening for them over the years, but with their huge amount of material available I was glad the whole time spent was with U2.

    Nope, it was a wrong link. it's fixed now. VanHimmel did also attend the Phoenix show, but this interview is from AZtrucker
