  1. Interesting discussion...though I have not seen the show live in person yet, I really appreciate Bloodraven's analysis of the whole set being a narrative and think it fits well the move from innocence to experience, not only with the songs themselves but with the stage structure and movement of the band. I can see why others are arguing that they should make this more explicit in the second half and can see how for most people this concept might be lost, but do we honestly want Bono to walk us through every single part of the story of the show? That would be too explicit and pedantic for me.

I guess I'd rather have them attempt something like I & E as it currently is than just abandon the concept outright, and hope they don't do that if they go outdoors next year. Big productions - SHOWS - are what U2 is all about (certainly since Zoo TV), not just greatest hits concerts, right?

  2. They could also make it go up through some poles...

  3. Bin of shame updated. Strangely satisfying.
  4. 'SIAM' was good on the Elevation tour as full band. Now it's just meh.

'California' remains a rarity, lucky me to be at Vancouver II then. I'd drop 'Elevation' or 'Vertigo' for that song any day of the week this tour.

Since dropping the atrocious "Santa Barbara" part it's a nice live song.
  5. I was going to do this on the fly the other night, but was too drunk to find the remove background feature on my image editor so I abandoned the idea. THANKS for doing it.

But......... Is that Invisible i see there, top left? No no no, Invisible doesn't belong there; ALL new songs must stay, even if they're boring as hell (Song For Someone). don't fit with the show theme (The Troubles) or just don't work live (California). Add WOWY's artwork instead.

  6. My guess is that you are operating under the assumption that LA 3 didn't exist? Elevation had way more energy than Volcano in LA 5, to be quite honest.

I don't think he's comparing it with other e-stage songs, but I agree that it seemed to work just fine for me.

And I don't think it's a matter of "energy" or "power"... I think it has to do with the feeling that the e-stage is sub-par or acoustic, like it's not part of the main show.
  8. I still think Elevation fits the best in that slot. The other e-stage songs that aren't acoustic don't really belong there.

    Your "...than Volcano" says enough
  10. it seems I'm the only one who likes "Santa Barbara" part of California
