Thanks. But at this point I'm not even sure if it is a 100% duplicate. It seems slightly louder (just a tat). Haven't measured it though.

A little ahead of schedule, but the flacs of the truly excellent Milan 2 audience recording of @MLK (with the "touch" of @hoserama) are available now too

Seriously, I'm not saying this to kiss anyone's behind, it's just a phenomenal audience recording. And it's not like MLK hasn't done his before: his 2015 Turin recordings are extremely good as well (here, and here)

(And just for the record, the Golden Eggs Milan 2 bootleg has indeed a tat more loudness than the original MLK).

Another update is the addition of @one8ung's 2018-10-24 - London, UK - O2 Arena (aka The O2) recording. Some tough competition there, as the ALD-AUD matrix bootleg "Someone Like Me" (again by Golden Eggs) is quite exceptional. The audience source, btw, is a remastered version of @LosslessJoel's recording.

...but @one8ung's recording is the only one available in 24-bit flacs (48kHz)...courtesy of @one8ung

So the Golden Eggs people just normalized/amplified the -already excellent- recording? Or do you notice any other changes in sound?

The original MLK was already normalized. Golden Eggs boosted the loudness, and also did slight change in the EQ, which is indeed noticeable.

Below are loudness stats and EQ profile of both versions...spot the differences:

MILAN MLK

MILAN EGGS

Reference track is "The Blackout". The difference in EQ is very minimal (between 1k and 10k), but it is different.
You can also see that while the EGGS true peak is at -0.2dB it has the LKFS (or LUFS) at -13,7. The original is less "loud" (-14.5) while true peak is -0.1dB (= perfectly normalization...what else!)

Agreed with biggirl, looks like they boosted the mid-highs and crunched it a bit.I doubt it's much of an improvement, but it is a different sound.

UPDATE (vintage audience recordings)

Yesterday an audience recording of the 2001-05-30 Detroit MI - Palace Of Auburn Hills appeared on the trackers (dime & U2Torrents). Turns out it is the same one already in our database known as "Sony TCD D-100 > Core Sound Binaurals (with bass roll-off)" (AchtungBootlegs).

Indeed, as the taper noticed back then and again just recently, the recording is a bit heavy on the bass. And as far as I can tell it's also a bit clappy and girl-screamy… But otherwise it is a very good to excellent recording with nice clarity and warmth.

Anyway, the uploader claims to be the taper @ShortFatGuy on dime and @I8B4IFlew on U2Torrents. But the question now is whether or not this source is any different from the "Freeman Whitney" source. I hope to determine that soon.

In the mean time the source page / audio tab has been updated with all the info I have. And of course with flacs and fresh mp3's

Also new to the database is 1983-06-13 Dallas TX - Bronco Bowl ...thanks to @adrian73

It's the @Stadtfelder 2011 transfer, if I'm not mistaken.

LOL...in honour of the 14th anniversary of the start of the 'Vertigo' Tour, I had to check out the show page / audio tab of

2005-03-28 - San Diego CA - Sports Arena (first night)

and to my BIG surprise I found U2Start had my old 2005 remaster of the @chrisedge recording sitting there as a silver cd

I recall I shared those remasters on the old U2Star...or perhaps on the good old @larrymullenbandforum as .wma files...
because they ensured gapless play-back...

(Perhaps some of you old-timers still recall...)

But eh...14 years is quite some time and this remaster is rather primitive. I guess I did some eq'ing and rebalancing of the levels.

Anyway, apparently I was smart enough back then to tag my files. And they must have survived the mp3 conversion so I could
still identify them today

However, the @chrisedge master wasn't even represented on the show page / audio tab, so I had to put that straight

And let me take this opportunity to thank @chrisedge for recording this fine opening night to which I had the advantage
of attending it in person. A dream came true for me: seeing U2 opening in San Diego
