I enjoy this more than the kygo remix, i hope the U2 album is better then the remix.

I have a feeling that U2 was working with whatever his name is to make some kind of remix for a single release, but he went and broke a contract or something by playing it at his show before it was supposed to be released. That's why there's been such a delay, maybe it was never supposed to be known before this upcoming show to begin with.
OR maybe it was some nice marketing by U2 to see what the general view of the song was from U2's fanbase (which from what I gathered at the time was mostly positive).
But still, it has to be SOMETHING.

My money would be on the OR part of your post.
They are the masters of self marketing. If there's anything about U2 that is scripted, it's their marketing strategy... (leaks, mysterious beach clips, feeding rumors to drunken resort directors on where & when the tour is starting again so they can post on InstagramBono is the king of the U2 marketing machine...

I think so too.
I just can't believe someone would play a song in front of thousands (not just tens) of people on a festival, including with a light and videoshow, without knowing he wasn't allowed to play it...
But I disagree on the "mostly positive" part. There's a SERIOUS lack of enthusiasm... Most hated them to work with "some unknown (not!) DJ"...
So, if that's why we haven't heard anything from this yet, thanks a lot fellow fans

Maybe, but I do think that that the barebones of the song were widely liked. Maybe the "remix" production of it was the problem.

Okay this is awful lmao. I don't mean the chords and the lyrics necessarily though, I mean everything including the beat, the synthy-parts, the guitar/string part in the chorus (not sure what it is), etc. It's the middle part that's especially remixy to me.
Yeah, breaking it down to just chords like that is kinda like what they were trying to do with North Star and Every Breaking Wave on 360, except those weren't dancey-pop tunes.

On the one hand everyone is praising them for their amazing 90's and ZooTV because it was new, fresh and groundbreaking.
Now everyone wants them to "be like U2 again" as soon as they try experimenting with a new and fresh DJ
