I like house music, but this is not. It sounds like a cheap attempt at a dance song. I welcome any attempt to play with new sounds, but this is not new or fresh. It feels like someone added all the dance tricks from the 90's to the song. I still prefer the Lillywhite mix.

Chastise me if you must, but I gotta ask... is your friend a real U2 fan or a raver at heart?
  3. I'm unsure now...I think Kygo's version is definitely more energetic and the chorus mix especially takes off a lot more. Definitely "hit-worthy" in today's music...

But I do really, really miss Edge's part at the end. That's easily my favorite part of the original band version, or whatever we want to call it.

EDIT: Maybe I'm not finding the full "official version" online yet and should just be patient until tomorrow? Now I'm noticing, too, that the "why I am I walking away line" is gone...?
  4. Kinda underwhelmed, could be faster. Still think U2s version is a perfect pop song that gets better with every listen.
  5. I wouldn't call him a U2 fan, but he certainly likes a large chunk of their output. He's one of those guys who knows a metric ton of artists and music in general, and has a pretty varied music taste. He's not an EDM guy either, but he enjoys a good pop song.

Funny, he thought that the single mix sounded a lot more 90s than this remix does, have to say I agree. The strings, the guitar in the chorus, it feels very 90s dance music to me. Not sure what about this remix makes anyone thin "90s" apart from the beat, but that basically hasn't changed since the beginning of this type of dance music whatsoever lol.

    Yeah... I don't get the 90's comparison
  8. Really? The Kygo mix could've been included in Now That's What I Call Music '96
  9. That might be where this particular dude missed out... if it was on a NOW compilation there's a pretty good chance I would have tuned it out.
