I guess what I meant was, U2 should've paid Kygo to produce this version for them and be credited as such. Let U2 take the artist credit and he take the producer credit, thus still making it a U2 release.

That's exactly right. It would've been ballsy, that's the way I see it anyway.

I guess if it was release as u2 and has no mention of Kygo on the label then yeah that might have worked.
  4. This song was number 1 on iTunes and Spotify in various countries after release, so I think that means something.

Plus, the fact the youtube comments haven't been absolutely savage against U2 says a lot.

  5. Yeah, that's exactly what I mean.

Really? I was on the lyric video page for U2's version a few days ago, changed the comments to "sort by new" and had a good laugh. They definitely were not all positive..
  6. "Sort by most popular" is the most accurate way to guage comment reactions, especially on youtube. I was looking at the videos released for Kygo's mix and most of them were surprised by the collaboration with many of them praising Bono's vocals.

Even reading around different music forums the view is overwhelmingly positive. I was expecting the EDM community to eviscerate this song, but that was not the case.

Finally, streaming/purchasing metrics tell the story.

I was talking more the U2 version, but yeah, that's great!
  8. Posted a Twitter poll to poll for the most popular version:
  9. If only I had the vision to record the sound of my cassettes as the tape stretched back in the day... I would have been a forefather of techno!

Speaking of metrics, I just posted an article in the U2 Songs You've heard on the Radio" thread about Mediabase (radio) vs. Spotify. You might enjoy it...

Sums up my thoughts exactly. But hey, it's Friday, and even without those parts, I can't wait to play this loudly on repeat on my ride home!
