I'm looking forward to it more too, and I think it will be better as well, as much as I'm hopeful that SOE is going to be strong it's not going to as strong as the JT , so the core of songs in the setlist will be of a higher quality.

Do you honestly think he would even attempt these songs if there was even a shred of doubt over his voice? He will surprise us, and surprise us big time!!

Agreed- i think his voice is great- if he can sing miss sarajevo like he does and EBW- he will be able to sing anything on joshua tree. He might need to change the key but his voice is still very powerful
  7. He will obviously be giving this 110% in rehearsals and will be forced to tweak his performance vocally for this tour, therefore we are in for a treat and we could potentially see yet again just how great a vocalist he is!

My fiancé (who's not the biggest u2 fan) was talking about this the other night. She did musical theatre and said that during the Paris 87 dvd she could see he was doing all the right things technique wise but that he's a bit lazier nowadays, we guessed it's because he doesn't want to damage or strain his voice, but this tour he might just go for it given the songs they'll be doing and the fact there isn't too many shows. I wont be complaining anyway as long as we get the full version of every song I'll be happy.

He was sensational in 87 live. I would even go as far to say that vocally on the 360 tour on the good nights he was terrific. Do you think he has been holding back on the I+E tour, purposely singing in a higher register etc?

Well I personally don't know much about techniques, I can hear differences but not go into what they are if you know what I mean. One notable difference in the 360 tour was the unforgettable fire, I still enjoyed seeing it live but clearly he couldn't pull off some of the parts to that song. Having said that I preferred everything about ultraviolet on the 360 tour to the zoo tv tour, so it depends on the song. I think he maybe holds back on with or without you when he almost speaks it more at points, it doesn't take anything away from the performance for me just makes it different. None of the points I am making are complaints though I can accept his voice has changed and enjoy it both now and then and look forward to hearing some songs that haven't been played in my life time.

He hasn't been able to sing WOWY for years, his voice lacks power in Streets, the crowd sing Still Haven't Found and The Unforgettable Fire needed reworked 8 years ago to make it serviceable.

I'm sure they will make it work somehow but I don't expect Bono to get anywhere near where he was back then. I've long since made my peace with that. It makes all this very intriguing. If he can even get to 6/10 with Exit (if played) then I'll be stunned.

People need to get their expectations in check.
