I was thinking not allowing anything over face value online and having a much stricter policy outside the venue as well would help but not completely eradicate it.
I certainly think that presale tickets shouldn't be sold on for more than face value but there could be no real way of controlling this?

    There is.

    First off; make it illegal.

The next step is to stop national companies like ticketmaster from selling tickets for inflated fees. The next is to track ticket sellers who advertise their tickets online. They'd need to to post their seat number etc. so you track the buyer of those tickets. Warn them. Three warnings and their account/ credit card will be refused for future purchases for a period of x years.

There's always a police presence at these events anyway, so why not have 2/3 in civilian clothes trying to arrest those selling at huge mark-ups.

This isn't drugs which you can sell on the street at any time. The scalpers are people looking for a quick job but are reliant on other income. There's only so many of these gigs with value. They'll get the message quickly enough.
    you mean international companies.

Another option is print name/address/fiscal number(or so) on the ticket and only ticketholder can enter the venue (with his party) after identity check whith photo id. But this has diasadvantages too as the checking process takes much more time and costs much more.

Ticketmaster/LN is an international company who has a monopoly on almost and obviously has no interest in that. Big acts sell out anyway and they don't care about the fans, only about paying customers and making profits.
Politics are not interested either (concerts are just entertainment for a select group of people, no safety is involved).

So I suppose to sum up there is a way but it won't be implemented because the people who could do something about it don't care. Sounds about right. Still a shame though, especially for people who paid to be a member and still couldn't get tickets.
  6. Ticketmaster get away with I because all though the own the resellers companies, they only act as a facilitator. It is 'fans' that do the selling on for inflated prices. Demand.

Unless a venue it an artist wants to make a stand then there is going to be no end to it.

What annoys me most though is that seatwave offer a much nicer buying experience. Sure they are selling less tickets and handling less traffic but the seating charts the offer are awesome. I want to see ticketmaster offering that to the customers if the clients they serve at original sale.

    Basically.
And even if bands cared about it, they can't do anything... Except going out of the Livenation/Ticketmaster madness like Pearl Jam did many years ago and sell tickets by other ways, but with big acts that tour the world every few years like U2 do it's almost impossible and it's more convenient to keep on doing business with Ticketbastard. So it's a status quo where everyone wins except the fans.

+1 for seatwave, I checked it out today and it is far more intuitive and descriptive about what you're buying.
