I see The Church. One of the most forgotten (Australian) bands. This album is great, Under The Milky Way is one of the best songs of the 80's. And the earlier album The Blurred Crusade is great too. But they still exist without their fantastic guitarplayer M.Wilson-Piper. I checked their website.
still going strong. MWP is a great guitarist, but his erratic behavior and his Yoko-esque girlfriend finally deteriorated the relationship with the rest of the band beyond repair. very sad, but the Ian Haug from Powderfinger is a worthy replacement and they are still making fine records. Nothing will compare to Starfish or the swan song Priest = Aura, but they are still worthy of your ear!

I was lucky to see Marty Wilson Piper with All About Eve. He made the band after Tim Bricheno left and in my opinion brought something great to the band. I recall standing by him when they played Newport Centre and he was as blown away with the support act Levitation as I was. We briefly chatted and next thing I am watching him on stage with All About Eve. No other support band has had that effect on me before or since.

Oh yes what a coincidence, I have the first 2 cd's of All About Eve (hardly known by dutch people), very good and what a great singer Julianne Regan is. Her voice was amazing. Yes after those 2 came Touched by Jesus with MWP. I was also lucky to saw them in sep 1991 at the Amsterdam Milkyway. I stood almost in front. I don't know the support act anymore. MWP was incredible indeed. Sad that he left The Church in 2013 or so. I didn't knew it. Yesterday evening I read those articles and listened to some great Church stuf, like Reptile (live), When You were Mine etc. also some new songs like Undersea. Ian Haug is a good replacement for MWP.

Yes, I read the articles about MWP. Those albums are great I know them. The new stuff also is fine too. I hope one day they come over to Europe but they hardly do.

that's weird they haven't been to Europe... they've hit the US the last 3 years. LOL - I'll trade you 1 Church tour for one Simple Minds tour in the US!
  6. I saw it on their webside they were in the US last year. In june they come over to London just for 1 gig. People hardly know them except in the UK I guess. Simple Minds is still popular hear in Europe (Netherlands). But in their great years from New Gold Dream until Sreet F Years I saw them in a sold out concert in Rotterdam Feyenoord Stadium. Great show. These days they do small indoor venues but still sold out. Maybe I like to see the Church one day in the States.
