1. So switch off your radio no matter who the artist is if you don't like it. Nobody obligates you to listen to U2.
  2. And that is all it is....I will say that some appear to have tunnel vision when it comes to U2 and if Bono farted into a microphone they would still fawn over it.

This is where there is no us. Only them. I'm nowhere near appalled. This song is pure joy.

The worst part of the release of this song is coming on here to read The entitled, elitist opinions of some people on here. They seem to get off on being negative and are in a competition to be the most negative. "This is worse than Boots" "Nope. It's worse than if Miami and Boots had a disfigured child." "Waaah! #NotMyBand"

Everyone on here, myself included just keep saying the same thing. I don't see there being any real conversation. This makes me really sad. When I first stumbled upon this site in 2009 I was thrilled to find likeminded, passionate U2 fans. I feel like since I called out that idiotic Troll who was ragging on Edge taking part in the Women's March (I wrote an article about this. Check it out) this forum has devolved into a pissing contest.
  6. I was kind of underwhelmed and disappointed when I first listened to it on wednesday. I was thinking I like the Kygo remix way more... I had been listening to that a lot before.

Then I kept listening a few hours later, and by the third listen it struck me how good this song was in it's own right, when I forgot about what I expected it to be (I expected some kind of Daft Punk Get Lucky sound). I realized that there are suprising things about this song and this mix : the key changes, the rough transitions... It does take a few times to get used to. But it sounds so good.

I can keep myself from listening to it too much. It's stuck in my head. There's something about this song, I can't not love it, and this is coming from someone that still hates Song For Someone and has always hated that popish side of U2...

SOE is 3/3 right now for me. I'm very excited for what's next.
  7. I think it's all a question of feelings.we are human beings.we all have feelings.different opinions.
As you well Said before.and i agree with you.i dont Like comparison....like this is better than or worst or else.
As human beings with hearts and feelings we react differently in front of good things or bad
It's our instinct ( pure ) to defend ourselves from different things.
Blame it on our nature.maybe someone feels "wounded" by a new Song because he expected more.
Someone else is joyful because the Song is fresh and simple
At least we Got our fav band with new songs coming out.among all the shit that is covering us
    Let's all cheers!

The funny thing is, as poppy as this song may be, it's not anywhere near as poppy as the 90s version of Sweetest Thing. No one seems to have an issue with that song lmao.

If you don't know that Sometimes is about Bono's father, that song is definitely more of a sappy pop song as well. The chorus could be a Destiny's Child song.

How about Celebration? "Shake! Shake!" - just because it has guitar doesn't mean it wasn't mega poppy for the time. People seem to have forgotten that U2 has been writing pop songs forever. As much as they're a self-proclaimed "rock and roll band", U2 has always been a pop rock band.
  9. The fact that people keep saying they can't get the song out of their heads (myself included) should be an indicator...

  11. We are the best things about us
  12. I sure can't. All three SOE songs have absolutely been bouncing around in my head, they are all catchy. And from what I've seen, reception of the new single has been mainly positive. This is a good time to be a U2 fan.
