    That's definitely what I was thinking, or the concept of "Boy" or "boys" in general, yeah. Instead of "best thing that ever happened to Man" (as in men in general).

    Yep - definitely not just a throwaway line (just like the "Fred, Ned", "Jack," and "Zach" names in The Blackout are hopefully intentional? )

  6. Debunked, it was a huge stretch and also inaccurate.

    Not everything has to have a deeper meaning (and I'm one of those 100%convinced that the "1, 2, 3, 14" in Vertigo is totally a biblical reference, so it's not like I'm the most sceptical person around here).

    Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not bothered by the names at all - as I said in the blackout thread a while ago, to me it's a cool way of taking the hyperbolic lyrics about the world ending and bringing them down to a conversational level.

    I had always thought the 1, 2, 3, 14 was because Lillywhite was the main producer on those numbered U2 albums (counting Wide Awake in America and UABRS).

    1 - 1st (old) testament
    2 - 2nd book (Exodus)
    3 - chapter
    14 - verse
    It's not just some random verse, it's one that Bono had quoted in more than one occasion (he even mentions it in the End Of The World book), and it fits with both All Because of You and even more with Yahweh (specially considering it's the first line and the last song of the album).

  11. It does not sound like a song ... it seems more like The Edge is looking for something. But, well, let's hope the song is immense.
  12. See, I didn't want to vocalize it, but I feel the same way. I think here Edge was just noodling and playing along with the song, especially considering he was apparently either by himself here or with the rest of the band minus Bono. I don't think this was a full rehearsal, or a good representation of how the song will sound on the record.

    Maybe they'll perform it different from how it sounds on the album? Kind of like what they did with EBW.
