1. That Star Trek remix sounds SO much better. The key word is coherence.

It's not the songs, it's the mixing of the two songs. Blackout sounds cohesive, like a modern rock track by the same U2 who gave us SOI. The Best Thing's mix is completely off and sounds like a 90s dance hit, and not in a good way. Again, I'm not talking about the arrangement or even the music, I'm talking about the MIX. Listen to the transition between the first verse (which is fine for the most part) to the first chorus. What the fuck is even happening there. Way too many cooks in the kitchen. It sounds like they had 1000 plug-ins opened up in pro-tools and they were fucking around with the raw tracks way too much, to the point where it's a jumbled mess. They should re-record it from scratch.
  3. SO MUCH better.

If the so called "album version" ends up actually being on the album instead of the Sci-Fi remix, I'll be 1) very disappointed and 2) burning a self made version of the album substituting it as soon as I get my hands on it

I agree with that, it's kinda sounds like a outdated dance hit.
  5. Definitely more cohesive but I gotta say it isn't as fun! This sounds more subdued to me.

I'll be working on a Kygo version tonight for you as well
  7. Well, I've listened to it a few more times and no it's just not happening, even tracks that grow on me I tend to find sound a little weird to begin with but not down right terrible. I hope this follows in the recent trend that the lead single ends up being one of the worst on the album because The Little Things and The Blackout sound good so I'm still hopeful about a good SOE.

I definitrly hear you on the MIX argument. But the more I listen to it the less I hear it. This song is fun!

I actually get some Abba vibes and reminds me a bit of "Back In The New York Groove". It's such a happy song in this mix and I'm happy with it.

That said I'd be interested to hear a stripped down acoustic mix like Every Breaking Wave. I always say that the album version actually ounds hopeful while the single version rips your heart out.

That's the best thing about this site, for me The Little things is the best song they have done in years
  10. Interview with Bono right now on Radio 2 (NL)
  11. Sci fi mix is way better imo
