How brilliant are they to be able to appeal to so many different musical tastes. I find that what I do not like at one point (the whole Pop album initially) I can listen to again in the future and (get it!!) I would never put in print what I don't like (apart from Party Girl that is) because I know I can listen to it again and change my mind.

  2. I agree with what has been said about different tastes, but I think when there's a general consensus of what makes a 'great' song there can also be one for what makes a 'bad' one. There have some bad ones, even they'll admit that. Some of their top songs have had bad lyrics in parts (e.g. Elevation) but have more than made up for it sonically. Same vice versa. Scarlet has been mentioned a few times, as has TPM. But did I see someone gving out about Zooropa?? Also, whatever people may say about Miami, whether it's a god or bad thing I don't know but there isn't a song like it anywhere. Lemon has been praised here as well, I was very recently shocked to find that they've only played it 6 times live, the perfromance from ZooTV blew me away.
  3. I really dislike 'Pride'....I used to love it but I just cant listen to it anymore....

Yea...it bores me now too...when that riff begins in the beginning I'm like :"oooow my goood...not again!!"
It's not U2's worst song of course....but it does become boring after a while, though it's a real rocker if you're watching it live in the stadium!
The same happens recently with Running to Stand Still ... don't know why
  5. Sincerely, and running the risk of be called an ultra-conservative or what the heck youd like to call me, I think that ANY U2 song is "bad", either musically, lirically or whatever. Every song has its point. The fact is that, as someone wrote here, this topic is absolutely subjective. I can dislike a bit "Bass Trap" and probably some of you would love it. Way too subjective

Awesome post. When tons of ink have been thrown about Zoo TV, our dear Gerard summaries it all in one paragraph. Legendary
  7. Not to keep harping on this subject, but I was just listening to Boy-Girl for the first time in a while. It's a very sweet first try for a song, but my God. "BOY-girl. BOY-girl. When a boy meets a gir-ir-irlll..." ANNND...there it goes back on my shelf to collect dust.

    Yes, bit uninspiring.....

I have been so mauch longer without listening to this song, and some days ago it has been like i hearded it for the first time in my life!

it has been so emotional and everything!
    yessaaa!

but i understand wath you meaning about an excessive exposition of my body, my hears, my mind, my everthing to a song!
it is the same even if I use to eat chocolate every moment, and every second.
i could hate chocolate, even if , it is the most wonderful food of ever.

  12. I don't really think any U2 songs are so bad I wouldn't listen to them.

New York and Grace are poor on ATYCLB. They should've been replaced with something. The Ground Beneath Her Feet is one song that should've been on the UK version. Far better than New York and Grace.

    Also not keen on;
    Walk to the Water
    Beautiful Ghost
    Drunk Chicken/America

And then there's the good songs, that I seem to not like because they can get quite tedious:
    I Will Follow
Even Better Than The Real Thing
    All I Want Is You

Anything played live though is pure brilliance.
