It’s ridiculous and unfair, if you’re turning up at a time when it’s impossible to stand in a line without having to go to the toilet etc then the line shouldn’t exist at that time in the first place. Show day a few hours before the doors open would be acceptable I feel but it won’t affect me anyway.

It would be very unusual to have check-ins throughout show day. Normally there's a very early check-in on show day (5-6am), then you're expected to wait in line for the day (allowing quick breaks for the toilet/food). Yes, people abuse this on show day, leaving for hours, but this would happen without the check-in system. The list actually cuts down the number of queue jumpers on show day. I've seen this work at Anaheim (where the list meant a family, who faked their own numbers, got turfed out for cutting in the line), & the lack of a list in Sydney meant those that had waited all day were cut in by many, many people.

Not that I'm condoning the multi-day check in (although I've benefited from the check-in system multiple times). I'd like a lottery for the first 100 people, to dissuade those lining up for days, & to let the band see some fresh faces at front of stage.

The check in and numbering system allows for people to leave for hours and regain there place. That’s where the problem lies. If someone did that to me I’d be making sure I had something to say about it but ultimately I’m sure the event staff would go with the number on the guys hand and the book of names. If the guy doesn’t have that number on his hand or the book doesn’t exist and he tries to get in front of me after being away for hours he’s not getting in front of me, or probably anyone else for that matter. It seems like a problem that won’t go away. I try to not bother myself with it because as I’ve said before I never arrive that early so it doesn’t effect me but I remember last year someone at one of the shows posted on here about queuing for a while on the day of the show and suddenly all these people turn up with numbers and walk in front of him. It’s not right, these people aren’t actually queuing at all and don’t have any right to walk to the front of the queue. I’m not ranting at you ddarroch I understand you’re in favour of a lottery system and not condoning the check in system but I just feel the need to highlight what’s going on.
  3. Important stuff for an indoor show

    Obviously for the GA line.

  4. Bono walks on top of the screen!
  5. Can't wait! Also do I spot Bono wearing a leather jacket in the beginning
  6. Is that Ad’s or Bono sticking on the guitar.
  7. thunderstorms predicted for tulsa
  8. At least it's inside...I'll raise a glass for the GAers, hopefully it'll be well-organized and they won't be lining up til late afternoon
  9. it just makes it messy for the show, getting there and then carrying an umbrella or raincoat, possibly getting wet and then going into the place with wet clothes/shoes....i know because i did it in Tampa last summer.....It poured and then drizzled the whole time people were entering and it was hot and steamy....maybe we can all wish this rain away fingers crossed
