People still can't seem to grasp the fact that if you tune in here every night, of course the show will get redundant. But for the the majority of those attending the shows, they aren't following along with the set lists and are getting an amazing night of music...

Here's my question: How many in here that are bitching about the "boring" setlist a)have seen the show live yet, b) are still going to see it, despite it being "boring", and c) going to see more than one show to further bore themselves?

I jumped, danced and sang myself hoarse in Atlanta. As did about 15,000 other folks in the crowd. And most were singing every word of the new songs... Listening to the show and following the setlist is such a one-dimensional way to experience this spectacle, and a narrow and tremendously obtuse way to judge this show. As is comparing it to Pearl Jam, or Springsteen, or blah blah blah...

I get the rotation thing, I do. But I also made it a point to try and stay out of all these set list parties for the most part until my show... and honestly, once I was at the show, even though I pretty much still knew what was coming... it still blew me away. And if I could, I'd go see it again - probably from way up in the cheap seats to get a different perspective...

Unless you're going to see 10 shows, you'll still be as bright eyed as every time you see them live. I promise you, The Showmen will give you front row to their hearts...

So well said! I too knew more or less the setlist last night but I forgot all about it as soon as I was there. It was an incredible show. And I am going again tonight, not because I expect a different show / different songs, but because the thrill of seeing U2 live and up close just doesn't go away. And 24 songs didn't feel like I was being shortchanged because there was so much energy in the show. Expecting U2 to rotate more than a couple of songs is like expecting U2 to be non political. That's not going to happen and to keep expecting different is just going to set you up for disappointment. U2 has always been about the live performance - it's so easy to forget that following along on line.

I agree with what you’re saying, definitely the band have got to priorities making each night a great performance first and foremost over rotation and they are playing well just now. I don’t think the show can be judged on level of rotation. The only thing I can say is for 2 night stops in the same city it’s reasonable to expect a good few people attending both nights, more than I think people are suggesting, I think given the number of songs they’ve already played on tour they could maybe rotate even a couple of songs. I’m not saying that’s make or break for the shows but I think they can do that without taking anything away from the shows both in terms of performance and story. That way the fans that are only attending 1 night in the same city are still getting a great show but for those attending both we’re getting at least a slight variation on night 2. I know though that if they play the exact same set both nights I see them I’ll still have a great time but hearing more unique songs over the 2 nights is always preferable. I would absolutely dismiss though the complaints about Setlist rotation from one city to the next, the only complaint I had about that initially was the length of the Setlist reducing but it’s settled now and I can accept 24 which is still a really good amount.
