What do you expect when they are using a massive video screen everyone is STARING at it and is a major distraction from what's going on up on stage this happened on Zoo TV, Popmart 360 and the recent JT tour yeah there were exceptions but the atmosphere on the Elevation and Vertigo tours was much better as the screens didn't overwhelm the band as they were above and to the sides of the stage with mainly band shots,U2 are much better in a minimalistic setting that's why they became so big the power of the band and the songs is what attracts people but whether they ever go back to a stripped back production is open to debate.
  2. Just back to real life in Ireland after two wonderful days in Amsterdam. I was in GA both nights surrounded by free, fun loving, joyous people from the Netherlands's who welcomed me to the Ziggo Dome as one of their own, who encouraged me dance, sing outloud, celebrate life and wave my Irish flag in the air! Thank you to everyone I met along the way you have given me treasured memories and I looked forward to the day when we can do it all over again!!!

    Yeah.

I will say that 360 to me was them successfully blending their love with production and tech with an intimate show. I'm not sure how they pulled it off, something about how the huge stage dwarfed the venues it was in, but the 360 shows felt intimate as hell, and it was their largest production to date. The screen definitely wasn't used as much as on other tours, maybe that's the key.

I was honestly hoping they'd scale WAY back for the Experience tour. I know they said well before beginning the tour that it'd be the same as the Innocence tour (in terms of the stage), but after that BBC show where they played with the orchestra and choir - shit, I'd love to see them tour that show. Play theatres like Lincoln Center in New York and places like that. Put on a different kind of "show".

I saw Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco) not long ago, and it was literally just him with a guitar on a stage, and people sat the entire time. But that's how it was meant to be. It was a storytelling show, a show where he's up there for us to listen to, not to party to. U2 has never been that (of course), but I'd love to see them try. I'd love to see the guys not playing to an arena or stadium, and playing to a focused audience who is there to really listen and watch. I'd love to hear Bono really open up about songs and not just tell the same old stories "wrote Stay in Berlin, called Sinatra, not sure why etc.". They could also try all sorts of different songs with this setup, because they'd know the audience wouldn't be expecting songs like Vertigo. We'd be expecting quieter songs, songs that really speak for themselves without any theatrics. The First Time, Shadows and Tall Trees, October, Drowning Man, Promenade, Bad (but closer to the album version), etc..

    That's my dream, anyway.
  5. I took a break from editing Paris multicam videos to make this multicam one - also using the audio that was made available to the members here for download from Popmarter. Thank you u2start! Enjoy!

    Cheers,

  6. Funny - Larry's not using the kick drum on WGRYWH (both feet are clearly standing still on the ground) yet you can hear it repeatedly in the background. Playback?

On Stay you can see Larry is sitting on a stool and using his right foot to play the kick drum again.

    Age is taking its toll...??

Also it doesn't mean you love the band less or are enjoying the concert less because you stay sat down. I've seen people sat down crying at U2 gigs. They didn't need to stand up to express love for the band.

If you want to stand get GA. If you fail to get GA then bad luck and sit down in your seat. Tough luck.

If it was the other way around and somebody wanted seats and could only get GA tickets they would not turn up expecting to be able to sit down in the GA area!!

It would be nice if not every institution was not nanny-ed down. I suggest we ban nanny's from rock concerts.
  8. Taking into account disabilities and other obvious reasons for not standing in the seats/stands I just don’t get those who sit - sorry just wait for the DVD!

The GA argument doesn’t hold any water either - I’ve tried to get GA for the last 3 tours and failed - I’ve stood and danced and sung my heart out at all the same.

My brother and had a few cross words with some people at one of the O2 shows in 2015 who were asking us to sit down - bear in mind this was at the start People Have The Power into The Miracle - not even the boring bit (the SOI bit basically). We told em quite clearly that this was a rock n roll show!! Sorry if that was you!

Anyway I’ve seats again next week in Manchester and I intend to be dancing and singing my heart out all the way through - sorry In advance if you happen to be near us!
