Maybe but the rumour mill had them announcing it a few weeks back and it turned out to be Metallica, I was under the impression they weren't going to tour for a very long time and that they were taking an extended hiatus however I won't mind been proved wrong.

Actually in advance of that announcement about the Metallica tour, we announced on U2Songs.com that the announcement would NOT be about the U2 tour. We knew the plan was to announce the U2 tour later, and knew that announcement would not have any U2 content at that time.

Don't blame you for being wary. There's some real garbage being posted about these rumoured dates.

Yep. So far they have been right with a lot of stuff so I would put my money on all their info now.

However, it's U2, and in 2016, a lot of people were rightfully spreading rumours that U2 would tour arenas that year. No one could foresee U2 pulling the plug last minute though, so that's always a possibility in any scenario.

    The joy of rumours

It happens. They planned a show for Raleigh on The Joshua Tree 2017. It was on the itinerary on the Friday before the tour announcement. Monday came and no Raleigh show was announced. It was pulled just days before the announcement. Shows that things can change right up until they are announced...
  3. if nothing is announced next week i am completely over this BS fanciful 'rumor'!

It's bad enough as Aussies we have had to sit back and watch them troop thru 3 x Nth Americain tours since they last ventured to our shores with 360!

The band don't realise how close they are to extinction among Aussies & NZs and with the end so near it would be a travesty for them to drop of the musical landscape all for the perusal of fatter wallets with numerous Northern Hemisphere tours.

Australia used to be a fantastic solid base for the band ( per capita i would have thought right up there with the best in the world ) their music was played on all of the radio stations here from 'easy listening' right thru to "alternate' stations such as JJJ (who in the 90s loved them) and everything in between TripleM, 2Day, NOVA , 96.1 and so on!

Triple M played more U2 than any other station and where unabashed card carrying paid up members, however these days u would hardly hear u2 on the station or for that fact any station bar the odd spin of "The Sweetest Thing" on the Easy Listening Stations!

If this tour falls thru i for one will be handing in my 'unabashed card carrying membership' back. I will quietly delete all their music from my devices and find inspo elsewhere (as have in recent times with Dave Gilmour and his last couple of tours).

Touring and the visual element of seeing a band like u2 is what inspires and make us as fans 'dream out loud' and continue to burn the embers inside to enable us to hang in there for that next album, or to defend the band when ur mates start to rip in to you for stupid mistakes like the 'free apple album' (which unfortunately happened to be their worst album) and old favs like 'Bonos tax evasion' and his Narcissistic ways!
As a fan of theirs for well over 30 years and 15 odd concerts spanning 6 tours it pains me to say all this. With each passing month and each tick of the clock, and no tour announcement their musical legacy is slipping further and further down the rabbit hole into oblivion.

This is the grave reality they face should they once again snub us, the band have be warned!!!

How exactly have you "warned" the band? Do you think they read this forum or something?

I agree that it's too bad they haven't been around your shores for almost a decade, but do you really think it's worth resigning as a fan?
  5. Its beyond the stages of rumours now with basically all arrows and neon signs poiting , in the form of touring personel , roadies - to the same dates and rumours about the same cities

    Exiting times .

Some good points made here I don't get why they toured the US in 2018 after touring extensively there the previous year and in 2015 surely they knew that the Americans have over dosed on them and it showed as they struggled to fill venues in certain areas, obviously the powers that be look at the US market as a sure filled money maker,
since the retirement of McGuinness they have been badly advised and managed he even admitted recently he would never of allowed them do the Apple gate fiasco and would have offered members a code to download the album instead of forcing it on people.

i am warning them as a 'fan' , you know that word 'fan'?

A 'fan' like millions of other 'fans' who have paid for their amazing lifestyles and provided them with wealth and riches that individually they couldn't spend in a lifetime.

Fans though are also fickle bunch. Fans turn easily into critics, critics who then start to question things like history and legacy. Its these Fans turned Critics i speak of who are the ones who are warning them , and that 'fandom' is growing!

When U2 are long retired who is left to hold the fort? To speak for and against. To attack or defend. To listen to and watch. To argue for or against.

When this moment in time arrives post U2 you need all the 'fans' you can get,
not those the ones who turned critic!

I am that 'fan' and i suspect there are many more who they need on their side , not against them!

I think it was Bono who said once "your only as good as ur last record"! Prophetic!!!
  8. Nice tantrum. That was insightful.

I would actually disagree with bono if he said you’re only as good as your last record. Regardless of the quality of new u2 material they will always be living of there past glory’s not out of choice but because that’s what people want to hear. The band would want to distance themselves from that way of thinking and they do every they can to do so but whether they like it or not more people go to a u2 show to hear One or Beautiful Day than to hear one of there new songs, I don’t think the quality of what they produce from now on will have any effect on that, it’s just the way it is. I’m glad the band still decide to challenge certain fans in a way by playing a substantial amount of new material and less obvious choices like Acrobat but they are the big band (brand almost) because of there songs from the past.

LOL, post almost reads like a list of reasons why they shouldn't play down under. Don't get me wrong tho- I hope all the rumors are true!
