Joshua Tree Tour 2019
Legs (1): New Zealand, Australia and Asia
Shows: 15
  1. I don't mind them recycling the concept.

If they recycle the entire setlist, that'd be a bit of a disappointment. Especially because the slightly more rare songs of that show - Ultraviolet, Miss Sarajevo - were played to Aussie crowds on 360. There's been no "break" from those songs.

With One Tree Hill being a staple of the album set, I wonder what they'll do to set these shows apart from the rest.

  2. Very little I think. Depending on how you look at it, it could be seen as the fourth leg of the Joshua Tree 2017 tour (even though there's a new name, tour logo and tour image).

Half the shows on EI were very similar to the IE shows, so I doubt they would change anything to drastically.

My question: are people happy with the "recycling" of the JT Tour yet again? Undoubtedly I think we're all glad for the fans in this part of the world that finally get to see the band again after too long. But were people expecting something different/unique, rather than something they did in 2017 already?
This show is going to a region that hasn't seen U2 live since the 360 tour. As an Australian, given how long it's been since U2 has been here, I'm very happy JT tour is coming down under. Given that it is a short tour it is unreasonable and not economically viable to expect U2 to come up with a completely new tour.

Also we know it is the Joshua Tree tour but we don't know much beyond that. It is somewhat likely all of JT will be played in order given that it will be a JT focused tour, but this is not confirmed. It is also highly likely that they will mix the rest of the setlist up and have a few suprises in stall to keep it fresh.

Even if the setlist is the exact same as JT30 it will still be fresh for basically all of the audience since most people won't have travelled overseas to see JT30 and not many people will travel to the region for this JT tour.

Honestly as an Australian who is a mad U2 fan but has never seen them live (was too young for the 360 tour and can't really afford to travel overseas for a tour as I'm a uni student) I couldn't wish for much more than a JT focused stadium tour.
  4. I think JT is going to satisfy a bigger majority than probably anything else they could do would. It’s only some of the hardcore fans that are going to have an issue really particularly as mentioned if they keep the same set as 2017 but I think that set will do just fine for the vast majority attending.

    This +1
  6. I'm putting money on them playing some of the major crowd pleasers from E&I.

    Blackout
    Love Is Bigger
MAYBE Acrobat if they want to give all fans a chance to hear that song live before it's too late.

u2start should do a competition about songs from SOI and SOE to appear in the next tour. Just for a bit of fun. I would bet on zero but Love Is Bigger and EBW are the ones I’m watching out for.
  8. It Is already Wednesday in Sydney!

Maybe come back from the encore break with The Blackout, do a handful of SOI tunes there. Go off for the second encore and come back and do a few hits. Finish with The Little Things.

    That would be great!

The Blackout in a stadium. My god.
  12. Yeah I would be shocked if they don't include a single I/E song on this tour. It's the only new music they've released since last time they went down under. Why rob the crowds of that?
