Yeah, they are all bloody massive fields for this tour in Oz, except Suncorp, so there will be lots & lots of people on the field.

The area of the field at Suncorp is just over 10,000sqm. Both Adelaide & the SCG are over 16,000sqm. The MCG, which has concerts occasionally is over 20,000sqm!
Adelaide Oval is over 20,000 square metres it seems.
    SCG is over 24,000.

Croke Park in comparison which was easily the largest pitch on the European and US tours is 16,000 square metres.
Twickenham in London is only 8750 square metres.

I'm not sure how they handle attendances in Australia but I know the standing capacity for Croke Park is 22k ,it can easily hold another 3-4k.

So scaling that you are looking at probably 26k in Adelaide and 30k in Sydney .
    Huge numbers
  2. Haven't posted on here for some time, but got my tickets for Brisbane (can't bloody wait), hopefully they'll announce a second gig ?
  3. I'm amazed by how easy this pre sale was. There's still GAs for Melbourne!
  4. It's at the end of the damn globe dude! If we could afford the trip those GAs would have flown by
  5. 20,000 square metres of pitch area ,thats almost 4 NFL pitches .
They can accommodate huge amounts of people on the pitch.

Remember that Adelaide Oval & the SCG are both oval in shape, not rectangular. I used dimensions & figures shown in a table at the bottom of this article.

    https://m.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2014-03-27/skinny-flat-meet-the-slimmed-down-adelaide-oval

If anyone is interested in Melbourne's Marvel stadium, it's in the above table, listed by it's former name, Emirates stadium. It's big too! Though not as big as the MCG.

In any case they're pretty huge, & will have a GA capacity that is tenfold the capacity of the arena shows.

Here's an image of the MCG. Look how small the football pitch is, compared to the full field
  7. I'm some clown ,ha ha ,I forgot they were Oval .
So Croke Park is as big as most of them .
  8. Curious to see if any of the fields get separated into a couple of sections, like Croke Park was. Obviously not during ticketing, but still could happen.

    Congrats Stu

Rumours are that Brisbane will only get 1 show. The fact that there's only a two day gap before Melbourne (which fits the usual U2 schedule over recent tours) also indicates this.

It's expected that both Sydney & Melbourne will get 2 shows. Originally it was rumoured that a Perth would get 2 shows as well. But current rumours are saying it's maybe only 1 for Perth.

  10. Now you know how we southern hemisphere folk feel trying to get tickets, following tours and watching sporting events overnight. We're almost into peak insomniac season with the Tour De France, Wimbledon and cricket world cup all happening in quick succession.
  11. So if there’s a 2nd show in Melbourne, I just reuse the same presale code for the 2nd show?
    I’m in the wires group
  12. As long as you didn't buy 4 tickets for the first show, yes.
