  1. LOL

For reference (these are pics taken during the gig, not pre-show):

  2. I’d say it would do U2 some good to have to play to a half full stadium again to make them realize what they’re doing wrong. But ultimately the only ones who will suffer here are the fans of NZ who will get screwed out of future tours. This isn’t a disaster yet.
  3. Guess ignoring NZ and Oz for so many years has come at a cost.

How would that do them any good? As you say, the only thing it will cause them to say is "We don't need to tour here again." The European, South American and most North American shows for this same tour sold very well. So what lesson did they learn about what they are doing wrong other than this region doesn't want to see us and its not worth the time and effort to go there? Now the Experience Tour did not do as well in some N. American markets but that was definately product fatigue due to be on tour the prior year. A half full stadium in one region of the world is not going to cause them to rethink anything other than where they think about touring going forward.
  5. A lot of the North American shows didn’t sell too well at all in 2017, if you look on Wikipedia even though it appears every show was a sell out you only need to compare to what the real capacity of the venues were to see a lot of shows had thousands of tickets unsold. The NRG stadium in Houston for example holds 80,000 for concerts yet sold just over 47,000 tickets. Edit: 80k is a massive exaggeration on Wikipedia’s part that was at a rodeo event where all stands were available a Taylor swift concert however did sell 53,800 tickets, there’s plenty of other examples similar or worse to this. They have outsold plenty of other big artists playing in the same venues though to be fair so it’s all relative.
  6. I still think you'll be surprised come show time. I didnt think the map looked THAT bad and pretty sure a lot of those will get vacuumed up. Dont panic!

Can you the negativity a rest for a while ,they are the biggest touring band in history most bands would be lucky to sell half the amount of tickets U2 sell for a tour.

I’m not being negative I’m just stating that the figures are misleading at times with sell outs that aren’t actually sell outs. If you look at what I wrote at the end of my comment I said that they’ve outsold plenty of other big artists and I do believe that they seem to be capable of selling 40k+ just about anywhere for at least 1 show and capable of far exceeding that in certain locations so that is impressive compared to most but u2 have there own standards to keep up with.
  10. I just think a scenario which could actually happen is this....

The seat maps for Auckland 2 look shocking for a while..then closer to the show prices come down and a lot of them are snapped up. Maybe 75-80% sold? And potentially then tarp off a few sections up the back and move people around. Auckland 2 for 360 also had tarped off sections but I think this show could have more. Anyway, just my thoughts!

I think 75-80% is a fair shout, with time and price reductions that’s doable. Anything more seems unrealistic at this stage but honestly I’d love to be wrong and they get close to a sell out. Whatever happens I’m sure people attending will have a great show. And the combined total for 2 nights in Auckland will still be decent enough too I’m sure.
