  2. Once the pandemic subsides and touring gets back to normal, I expect U2 to come back joyfully and with monster truck force.

  4. The opening sequence with Blackout and Lights of Home was the worst they ever did


    Well, that is a blasphemy! I think it was U2's best opener I've seen live (chasing them since 2005), and one of the best ever. Crowds reaction confirms that. Best thing was also very well recieved, so was GOOYOW or Love is Bigger. 13 made great ending to the whole touring era of 2015-2018 (2019 was a bonus )

    my memory and youtube say something different. You may call it blasphemy, maybe it's considered as that here on the forum, but when you get out of the die hard bubble you might get a bit of a different view. Also I already said Blackout is a good song, not sure if it's a good opener as the first part of the song is quite viscous and the momentum that they get at the end of it is completely lost again in Lights Of Home. As a combination I think it's quite bad
    Talking about Lights Of Home and blasphemy: what do you think about this;

    maybe not literally blasphemy, maybe it's just a nice play on words but I know I don't like to sing along with that and actually the whole song.

    This opinion about the E&I tour and the songs of SOE is also blasphemy.
    Definitely not U2 their best work.

  8. I took my Dad to Dublin 4, he's not a U2 fan, doesn't know any of their music and doesn't even go to concerts yet he loved the blackout as an opener.

    so it was also his worst opening song if it was the only U2 show he saw worst is relative, I never said it was bad and also I was talking about the combination of 2 songs. Look at the opening of the 2nd part of the show and see what I could/should have been like.

    The opening of the 2nd part of the show was the weakest part of the show. How many times do we need to hear elevation and vertigo. People enjoying a song doesn’t need to mean standing up or jumping about. Lights of Home obviously isn’t going to get people bouncing but it’s a much better song that elevation and Vertigo and I thought worked really well, it was amongst my highlights of the show. Blackout did get some of the crowd bouncing and I think combined with the visuals grabbed the audience attention, I thought it was a great start to the show.

    well, that's my main point. Lights Of Home is not a good song in 2nd spot (if at all), following Blackout. Anyway, it's all opinion. I think if you want to do arena shows like this (or stadiums) you need a better/different album. I think that was my initial point. Otherwise I might prefer them doing an AB tour. I don't think it's a very extreme opinion. Casual fans are not really warming for new U2 songs anymore, so maybe they need some new approach of touring and releasing new music. The poll is very black and white, but I think there are many alternatives possible. It also depends on their new contract.. if they signed a big one, they also have to please the casuals... anway, I hope they will keep releasing new music, I don't really care what they play live as long as it's as good as we're used to with some new/fresh elements. But that's not an option in the poll

    What’s your main point? That it doesn’t get the crowd jumping around? That doesn’t make it a bad choice for 2nd song though, I reckon the crowd would have been fixated on the show for the first 2 songs with the way they were presented. I guess if you just go to a show to dance around then maybe not but u2 and music in general is about a lot more than dancing to a song or standing up for it.
