1. hi everyone!!!

well, i'm almost sure that you all have a story to tell about how did you discover u2 and realised that they're the most amazing band in the world...

and i thought it would be fun to share..... so, say it all!

my own lovestory stars at january 2001, the time when i bought the ATYCLB! by that time, i've already saw beautiful day's video and i thought it was simply awesome! but i had really never heard about u2, so it was about to end like that.....(shame on me!!)
yet, i still had one of those coupons you can trade for a cd or anything you like, and i decided i would trade it for a cd..... when i was looking for all those cds one caught my atention, and i really don't know what made me bought it, but i did!
i got home and listened to all the musics and i really truly loved it!!
well, i've got to say that the rest it's the same old story...... and here i am! loving u2's music with all my heart and soul!
  2. This one is a bit strange, but it started when I was watching cable tv in 1992 and Mysterious ways was playing behind an advert for a movie. I then went to school the next day and asked my mate who sung the song. He preceded to lend me achtung baby and the rest as they say is history. I have my school mate to thank for turning me into a U2 fanatic
  3. I'm almost exactly the same as that, except for me the song was Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses and it was in a chip shop. But I was lent Achtung the next day......

I then remember taping the 1993 Dublin show from the radio and hearing all these songs that I vaguely new (Pride, Desire, Streets, New Years Day) that I hadn't realised were U2. My bank balance took a beating in the following weeks as I got all the albums with those songs on.

And then I was introduced to the beauty of bootlegs via this site. Wow!

  5. Hi friends

I already told my story..but I'll say again...when I was a little boy 6 or 7 years old(I don't remember very much) I listened to the song New Year's Day and I loved...I ask what band played the song and my uncle said:"It's the best band of the world...U2!"...after this a ask for my dad an U2 cd as a birthday gift...He gave me Under A Blood Red Sky and I loved and my school mate gave me Zooropa and I like it too...after this you know the rest...U2 became a passion!

    see you friends!!
  6. The first time I got in contact with U2 was in 2001, after the release of ATYCLB. The singles from that album became very popular here in Italy "in a little while". So I got the album and I liked it very much.
But my real lovestory with U2 began only during the summer of 2005, after I bought HTDAAB and I listened to The Best Of 1990-2000. I loved so many songs that I began to think that U2 could become my favourite band and their music my favourite one. I remember a day when I decided to listen to the whole HTDAAB while reading the lyrics of the songs: after that I began to love U2 as much as I do now.

  7. It all started when i was about 4 or 5. Rattle and Hum was out and my mom had the movie we used to watch it like everyday. I remember getting the Rattle and Hum Poster for my room at the age of 5 for my birthday also got pair of black shades that Bono was wearing in SF. I was so happy, also one time my mom was outside or something so I put on Rattle and Hum got all the way to the end to of Pride. And we all know how Bono does the whole thing of falling on his back and such. Well I had my flashlight singing into it. And did everything Bono was doing. Then my mom walked in was laughing her butt off at me. But o well I love U2. Thanks Mom. I have lot of other stories if anyone is intertsted.
  8. Here's my story. As I mentioned in one of the topics before (long ago), my mum likes their music too, so I must have heard them when I was very young.
But in 2000 they really astonished me with Beautiful Day, which still is one of my favourites. I loved the song, and especially the video. When I saw four guys on a airport, playing a great song when aircrafts flied just over them I thought now these guys must be cool
Then came another great song, Elevation, with another great video. And of course I heard the other 2 singles, Stuck in a Moment and Walk On, and the last one became one of my favouite songs of all time.
Between All That You Can't Leave behind and How To Dismantle aan Atomic Bomb I did'nt really listen to U2 much. I listened to all kinds of music, although I knew the songs Pride, With or Without You and Sunday Bloody Sunday. I liked them very much, but I didn't knew that U2 had made so much more great songs.

Then came 2004, the year I defenitely became a sort of 'fan'. I saw Vertigo on Top of the Pops, and I was hooked. Sometimes made me even love their music more and so I started to get the albums. Now I know almost every song and have every DVD, but still I don't know everything of them, and that's amazing.
For example: i just saw on Youtube two songs, which I never heard before: North and South of The River and Don't Take Your Guns To Town, I like them

I still am not bored because I know almost everything. To me that is the greatness of U2.

  10. well my story is kinf of weird. It was onley last year

I was in my cousins car, driving touwards my oncles house. In a ''village'' cald Rivière-du-Loup. About 6 hours car drive from montréal.

FOR THE WHOLE RIDE Y LISTENED TO BONO'S CHARMING VOICE !!

so when y arrived home y donwloaded every think possible about U2 ... and here a am
  11. Mine was an odd love affair. it was 2001 and i was going through my hate the parents teenage phase and my mother loved U2 and was trying to get me into their music so she offered me a ticket to go to Slane 1 and 2 with her. I rejected saying 'who the hell are they?'. How crazy am I, that would have been the perfect intro to U2. So that oppurtuniy passed and as I matured slightly I fell in love with the first 3 tracks of the Joshua Tree. blasted them all over the house. Needless to sat my interest grew and wen i got a part time Job i had all their albums and dvds within 2 months. Completley hooked tho. Still damn pissed that because of my naivety I paseed the oppurtunity to atte4nd thos 2 great shows. To date i still aint seen them Live
  12. I was at home reading a magazine and i had the TV on for the sake of having noise in the room.

A WWF promo with Beautiful Day came on, my ears perked up and i realised that this is for me.

I brought the Best of 1990-2000 and got addicted to it before i realised how big this U2 thing is.

There is no other band where i can buy their entire back catalogue and find it eternally listenable.

Even though i'd only been a hardcore fan for a few short years, when i saw them live it was as though i'd been waiting all of my life waiting for that moment, it was that life changing.
