1. Hey Guys as many of you know I'm studying abroad in Rome, and I am doing a weekend trip to Dublin March 20-22 with a few friends here. I'm planning on doing a little "U2 tour" and checking some of the spots including the recording studio. Has anyone done anything similar and can give some advice and/or locations to travel while in Dublin.

    Thanks y'all.
  2. I was there for a weekend last year with my girlfriend, the hard rock cafe in Dublin has a Zoo TV trabant hanging from the ceiling, pretty cool for a photo opportunity. We went to Windmill Lane Studios too which was not the easiest place to find but a point of interest for a U2 fan.
  3. Last year we've been to Ireland and I can sincerely recommend the west and the north.

If you have the time, go to Belfast and do a political tour, with a black cab. It's very interesting.

Also very interesting in the north is the Giant's Causeway and Carrack-a-rede rope bridge.

In the west of course the cliffs of Moher, but the trip to the Aran Islands is even more fantastic. The Dingle Peninsula is a must see.

Very interesting in Dublin is the Kilmainham Goal, which was udes in many films, lilke In the name of the father. Nice is also the Guinnes Hop store with a beautiful view over Dublin.

On www.u2tour.de you can see a U2 Travelguide for interesting places in the Dublin neighbourhood, which have a link with U2.

  5. atu2.com has a good U2 Fan Dublin guide. There's even a guy on there Daveyg who does U2 walking tours if you're interested.

  7. digging out this topic as my next trip to Ireland (6th one) is ante portas

this time I'm heading to the west coast again, after discovering the beauty that is Co. Clare last summer

now, after a couple of days in Co. Tipperary (Cashel etc.) I'm thinking of renting a car to get easier to Co.Clare then and to be able to get around there, as the bus/train connections aren't really the best along the coast.

Never rented a car in Eire before. I figured out by now that there doesn't seem to be any car rental in Cashel itself, so maybe I should go to Limerick instead, there I found one. Any suggestions what I need to watch out for? In means of all those insurances the car rentals offer, do I need them all? Is Limerick the right city to get on the road for the first time (never drove on the left side, oh help me ). All I know is I'd never take my first attempt on Irish roads in Dublin, as the traffic there is mad and I'd definitely not get far without causing major trouble there.

So you Irish folks or those who have been driving there already.... if you're located in Cashel, what's the best way to get a rental car and get to the Cliffs of Moher (my hostel's not far from that) ? I'd be grateful for any help

  9. I'm also planning a trip to Ireland with a friend of mine.
The plan is to hire some bikes and make a trip around the country.
It will be something like this: Dublin - Roundwood - Laragh - Morriscastle - Kilkenny - Roscrea - Athlone (were we will visit Moydrum castle afcourse ) - Mullingar - maybe Slane - Dublin.
I'm really looking forward to it!

I would love to see the Cliffs of Moher, but it's a bit too far with the bicycle
