  1. i just bought a new laptop and so im selling my desktop pc. is there any way i can transfer my itunes program onto my new laptop? i know i can transfer the itunes library, but is there a way to get the itunes program with all my saved presets and song play counts from my pc to my laptop.
    im very interested in any suggestions.
  2. i once un-installed i-tunes from my computer but kept the i-tunes library. when i re-downloaded the newer version a few months later my i-tunes library added itself back on to the new i-tunes (ratings and presets included). mite work if u want to try

    ah yes, but that was all on the same computer wasnt it? i doubt it work in my case [transfering from one computer to another], but hey - its the best idea i have so far so thanks man!

    I will mention at the get-go that I don't know if this is work but if you have FireWire, or even USB, you may be able to connect the two machines up (almost as if the PC was a portable memory-stick to the laptop) and then drag and drop in Windows Explorer. You'd need to use the library as well as the application, but it may work.

    Also with this method, you risk nothing as the files will all still be on the PC and you can try another way if it doesn't work.

    Maybe Vista (I assume the new laptop has it?) has a program on the CD to help - I know new Macs (what I'm running) have a program to help you swap everything as you start the new computer for the first time.

    yeah its a vista laptop. your idea sounds good and as you say its risk-free, so if definitely give it a try.

    try to look for a program through google..

    thats my no. 1 concern. it took me ages to get my play counts to where they are.
    oh well, i guess ill just have to let it go, and faaaaade awaaaaay!

    If this happens, you could of course trick the computer into getting them back where they were by making the start time a couple of seconds before the end time and put them on loop.

    You wouldn't want to sit and listen and it would take a bit of time; .... I wouldn't of course ever have done such a sad thing at all....
  11. iTunes sucks, but I've found a trick that when you hold the Shift key while clicking on the iTunes shortcut you get an additional menu where you can specify the location of the library which you can copy or back-up easily.
  12. hi guys,
    thanks for all your great ideas, but what i ended up doing was transferring all my songs from my ipod to my new computer using a program called sharepod.
    i had to create all the artist folders and playlists again which took a couple of hours and was a pain in the arse, but hey its done now.
