    Well, that's personal I mainly use my phone for my applications which I wouldn't have on other phones so this one's perfect.

    I have it in a business contract which is good, but I agree that it's very expensive, also if you would like to have it without a contract. A new iPhone is coming in June, and I think the prices will drop significantly before.
  2. I can't see them dropping the price unless they increase the contract lengths but that's apple. Isn't the 'new' iPhone just the same with the 3.0 software?

    Well in America they're offering it now without a contract, and I can see the prices drop. Here in Holland it does, lots of promotion, they want to get rid of the stock.

    No it will be new hardware, they're talking about better WiFi hardware, faster HSDAP support, double memory, video camera, 5 MP photo camera etc.


  6. For quick shots only..imagine you're in the car and suddenly a plane crashes next to you like last time with Turkish Airlines. I use my Sony A300 for the real work, so it's just a nice addition. I agree, no one buys a phone for the camera. I still buy one for text messaging and to phone with it. And this Nokia 5800 is ideal for internet, so expect an increase of MWSAH-posts lol.

  8. Finally my number was transferred today so after 2 weeks of getting used to the Nokia 5800 I finally could use him today. And it's a great mobile I think. The design is not as sexy as the iPhone and the materials used are not that great, but..the functions, the touchscreen, the sound, the smooth controls..It's all there, and I love it.

    Nokia 5800

    Looks
    The screen is crystal clear and bright. It has a 16 aspect ratio and a resolution of 640x360. The materials used however, aren't the best. It's mostly plastic and unlike the HTC Touch or the N-series, it doesn't feel that steady. Only a minor point for me though.

    Functions
    It has everything you want actually. There are enough widgets and applications for the Nokia 5800 which runs on the latest version of Symbian S60, version 5. I have installed Google Maps, Windows Live Messenger, some games, some other nice applications and synched my mailbox with my Hotmail.
    It has a 3.2mp Carl Zeiss camera which delivers normal pictures for a mobile camera. Nothing to be amazed with. And I don't use it that often either. It also shoots video with 30fps in MP4-format, I think. It has onboard stereo sound speaker with good quality. Just don't turn them on too loud because it gets distorted at that point.

    Personal
    After several days of intensive usage, I must say I'm amazed with it. Symbian runs smooth as hell, haven't had a single issue with it. It's quick, smooth and simple. Sound quality is great. You can plug in your own headphones like the Sennheisers. I might even say the given quality is better than the Creative Zen I have for music.
    Internet is great too. The screen turns when you turn the Nokia 90 degrees. I usually do it when I get online. It's possible to go online trough Wifi, Mobile Internet and WLAN. The speed depends on your provider though.
    Text input can be done in 3 different ways. The good old method, the resized QWERTY-board (usage of the pen is adviced) and the full QWERTY-board when you turn the Nokia. It's possible to type with 2 fingers then.

    The set comes with headphones, several cables like USB and Video input, software (Nokia Ovi Suite which runs fine and is simple to get used to) and several other tiny gadgets. I haven't found any disadvantages until now..maybe the materials. Some might prefer the iPhone, but why pay more for a hyped gadget like the iPhone if this Nokia might be just as good?
