    Red Dragon? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Watch Manhunter instead, it's so much better. For one thing, Ed Norton's way too young to play Will Graham. Once he popped up in the movie, his age became too distracting and I couldn't enjoy it. And Brian Cox is a better Lecktor than Hopkins is Lecter...
    I watched Ichi The Killer this morning while the sprog kipped - can't have kids watching that sort of thing

    I have no clue how old graham is supposed to be, so that fact didn't bother me at all and I'm totally used to hopkins playing lecter. never seen manhunter, is there more goriness? lol

    @harry:
    guess I know that feeling. after 'the downfall' (der untergang) the cinema was completely quiet at the end... eerie anyway, how was david thewlis in the movie? good acting?

    i thought Red Dragon was pretty good; granted I haven't seen Manhunter but still...it was better than Hannibal. and I haven't seen Hannibal Rising either

    Manhunter isn't particularly gory, but it is more disturbing. And being made by Michael Mann, it's a damn sight more stylish than Brett Ratner's effort. I'll tell you what, though - Ichi The Killer is about as extreme a movie as your ever likely to see. If you think you can handle it, check it out. You've seen nothing like it...

    I realise that I'm being massively opinionated (sorry...), but I would urge you not to watch Hannibal Rising - it's a couple of hours you'll never see again. Why not watch, I dunno, Se7en again or something..?

    haha, no worries. I think one can hardly NOT be subjective when it comes to movies
    haven't seen hannibal rising btw, surprisingly, even though I've looked forward to it back then.. suddenly I'd lost interest. guess because of the guy who played hannibal (see, subjective again lol).

    Speaking of serial killer movies, I saw Zodiac for the first time last week and thought that it was superb. The main problem with Hannibal Rising (and the Hannibal novel) was that it gave Lecter a reason for his cannibalistic tendencies. Why couldn't he just have decided to try it and ended up liking the taste? THAT'S frightening, that is. The fella who played Hannibal in Hannibal Rising was also in a French movie called A Very Long Engagement which is well worth checking out. IMHO...

    Was Der Untergang the one about the end of Hitler's reign from his perspective? But yeah, Thewlis was excellent. I was pretty impressed with the whole film, just thoroughly depressed afterwards...

    yeah, hitler's last days in the bunker. also a really well made movie, good actors (bruno ganz, just... wow), but damn shocking, frightening and sad.

    ha, thewlis, never seen that guy act badly
