I respectfully disagree there. Titanic was the 5th best movie in the best picture category in 97. Full Monty, As Good As it Gets, LA Confidential, and Good Will Hunting were all better. And Crash was the biggest piece of crap movie ever to win Best Picture. Act One-outrageous stereotypes on parade. Act two- each stereotype reverses course.

You could ALMOST have a point. The film was obviously way ahead of its time in that it showed how successful an American idiot could be - well, howdy Dubya! I don't think that the film is critical of the army at all, and the army/Vietnam is shown as a place where one can be successful if one knows how to play table tennis. The film is also cowardly. When they give Jenny AIDS - because she thought she was 100% free to live her life? Don't understand that statement at all - the film makers shy away from nailing down exactly what she's dying of.
