To each his own. If you have the patience/capacity to understand Kubrick and assess elements of a film and the filmmaking process, symbolism, etc, and not just storyline- it's actually nothing short of brilliant
Also, you having seen it for the "first time in years" at the age of 15 doesn't really have your brain in a fully developed stage at the first time you viewed it, so give it a few years and come back to it. A course in film study will improve the experience greatly; I say this from experience of my own.
