1. Is "The Avengers" better than "The Dark Knight"?

  2. God, no. It's great fun and I'll be off to see it again this week, but the films are incomparable. Yes, they both have graphic novel sources, but that's about all they have in common. Now, as for The Dark Knight rises...
  3. Apparently Avengers 2 is already in the works.

Haven't seen Avengers Assemble yet, not usually my kind of thing as RUMMY said. But, I've only heard good things about it so I guess it can't hurt to go and see what it's all about.

  4. I think it would be extremely unfair to compare the two since both are great for very different reasons.

The Dark Knight is a great film that takes full advantage of a universe created in just a single movie whereas The Avengers is a movie that culminates from the intricate weaving to 5 different movies (if I recall) all taking place in the same universe. For that reason, some may call The Avengers a somewhat incomplete film because it doesn't explore much backstory, but add on the additional films and you have a network of films in which The Avengers is a savory conclusion.

It's true that The Avengers 2 is in the works, but it won't be a sequel as you may think. In fact, Iron Man 3 will be the first movie in another series that will lead up to The Avengers 2. Now if they manage to succeed in creating another network of superhero films leading up to another amazing Avengers film, I will say that the people behind that must be cinematic geniuses.

But if you look at the two films from simply a box office perspective, The Avengers destroyed pretty much every single opening day/weekend record in existence, most of them originally held by The Dark Knight.

    What a great film

    Great soundtrack too
  7. Bourne Identity, amazing movie!!
  8. Tinker Tailor Solider Spy.
  9. ^What did you think of it?

I watched it a month or two ago and posted here that "I wasn't intelligent enough for the movie."
  10. It's solid, but it's definitely not anything mindblowing. It kinda reminded me of "Munich." Great cast (Oldman, Firth, Hardy, Hurt etc) & I liked its look. Since I'm assuming that's what 70s London looked like..
  11. "Yellow Submarine" (1968)

Seeing this on the big screen was glorious. Glorious, I say!
