I just meant I didn't think I would be able to make the deadline. But if you want to hear my thoughts, I'll post a review. Apologies for not posting earlier.

We'd love to hear your thoughts when you get a chance...
  3. NOTE: this review is for the video only, although I have previously listened to the audio boot

    Sound
Sound quality is top notch. It's one of those rare recordings that sound amazing, but not too soundboardy. It's obvious that the sound quality of the DVD is far better than the audio bootleg.

    Video

Not a big fan of audience shots, as I am very picky and usually only enjoy pro-shots, but this show was an exception. I thought the show was very well taped, and I think I'll probably explore some more audience shots. (Which I'd like some suggestions on which ones ) This is one of the few audience shots I've seen that actually made me feel like I was there, in the sense that there were some pull away shots, where you could see the majority of the crowd.

    Overall

Overall there's really nothing bad to say about this show, other than Wild Honey, which made me lost for words. Can't stand the live performances of it. This show, for me, epitomizes the indoor shows of the Elevation tour. It's a shame we don't have a good dvd of that part of the tour (Thanks Hamish). The elevation tour has been slowly growing on me, and I think it might have surpassed the VT for me.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    - Encore was awesome. Every single song.
    - The Fly on the Elevation tour. Need I say more?
    - The band really seemed to enjoy themselves, especially Bono. Nothing improves a show more than seeing the Boys having a good time.
    - Good setlist. One thing I prefer about this ET is that they changed the set regularly.
    - Walk On is a good ender as always.

I guess Dan's choosing a video bootleg too, and Gerard has to convert it...or something similar!

Think our rules need re-visiting personally. Will explain more tomorrow hopefully.

    Ok. So, some answers...

I feel that the BRT is losing coherence. We went through a really strong run where we gathered members quickly and got lots of reviews for lots of gigs.
But in recent weeks that has been lost, in my opinion. The last strong showing was probably for the Lovetown show that Caper chose.

Now, I'm not sure if this is due to generalised apathy for the concept on the part of the members, or simply due to the system we chose initially no longer suiting everyone.
I know that I still really enjoy the RT and it is a cracking way for me to ensure that I listen to a variety of boots that I know damn well would be lost to me otherwise. I dearly want it to continue.
But it cannot continue limping pathetically along as it has the last few weeks with multiple drop-outs and failure to post reviews when they are expected. This will gradually drag it down until it grinds to a complete halt as people will lose interest. I know it has already affected me posting my summaries, as I'm sure you have all noticed.

This is a fantastic site, we all get on really well and the casual banter of it is part of the myriad appeal. So this cannot be overly draconian. But equally, any concept such as this needs a system and order. I firmly believe that if you sign up to take part, that is what you should do.

With this is mind, I am proposing a slightly altered system for how we organise this.

Please be clear, this is my suggestion only. It needs discussion and agreement from all vested parties before we can move forward. Obviously, it will be easiest if you all just agree with me.....

    1. New show choice is posted (same picking order as present) on a Monday
    2. People can register their interest if they like, but no-one signs up to post a review until they have actually downloaded the show / video and have it ready on their hard-drive/iPod/MP3 etc.
    3. We allow until the Saturday for this 'Collection' phase.
    4. Names will be collated and a summary of the show choice plus active members posted on the Sunday by me (to follow the standard layout).
    5. Those active members then have a week to post their reviews at any time.

This will of course mean that each show takes 2 weeks. But
    a. I think we need more time to ensure people get a chance, especially when it comes to reviewing . The Sunday thing put too much pressure on people.
    b. I'm hoping more of the shows use video too and you definitely need more time then.
    c. By having longer, maybe more discussion of points raised in reviews can be had.
    d. Who really cares? We have forever...

I will not be posting a new show choice until the chance has been taken to discuss this fully. I think every active member of the BRT needs their opportunity to have a say.

    Over to you guys....
