  1. this weeks recording seems to suffer badly from being encoded one too many times. The lossless is well active on u2torrents so I might re-encode it to a higher bitrate. My ears shrivel up when they hear 128kbps. Wished i'd have noticed it sooner so we all could have benefited from better sound quality on this one

    I'd imagine that the sound quality may come up in some reviews....

    I got to Love and Peace and could listen no urther. Not because it's a bad recording. . .but because it's a good recording butchered my bad conversion and crammed into too small of a file. Upgrade due. .

    Sound:

    I didn't have nearly the problem that some of my fellow BRT reviewers did, which is a little surprising, because I used to only listen to DVD rips, broadcasted shows, or 5+ star boots. All members of the band were audible, and there weren't a lot of moments when you can hear some random person in the crowd talking during the show. IMO, somewhere between 3.5 a 4 stars.

    Performance:

    The more I listen to U2 boots (as opposed to just the highly produced DVD rips), I realize that the band is "on" more than they're "off." Sure there are wrong notes every once in a while, but it's really rare to find a show where someone really mucks up an entire show. (Except for Adam's famous ZooTV Sydney debacle.) For the most part, this show was a typical U2 show. The only exception is that Bono really waltzed his way through the first verse of "With Or Without You," but picked it up after that.

    Highlights:

    Gloria - Gloria on Vertigo Tour!!! What more needs to be said. I hope we see more of this on the next tour.
    Until the End of the World - Love the little down-slide Edge does in the intro riff, instead of sliding up.
    Instant Karma - Creative drum fills by Larry and ad lib lyrics by Bono....sounds good to me.
    Miss Sarajevo - Bono sounds really good singing the Italian....even if it sounds like he's trying a little too hard.
    Snippets-Galore!!!

    Lowlights:

    Crumbs From Your Table - Switching between his normal voice and the falsetto doesn't work live like it does on the album. I love the album version, but thank god they didn't play it more live. Yikes.

    Overall:

    I liked it enough that I want to track down the DVD bootleg....even if "Crumbs" was atrocious.

    Rating: 8.5 out of 10

    Same here, I used to only want to listen to stuff that appeared to be the best quality, but now I've realised that a lot of the lower ranked bootlegs aren't actually that bad for quality, and with a lot of 3-4 star stuff the quality isn't as bad as you'd think PLUS there's often rarer songs to be found...

    I'd like to think that what we thought was similar lol, except you managed to summarise it in about half as much space lol!

    Mine was Gloria. Haven't heard a live version of that one since JT/Lovetown, so it was a nice new addition.

    Love and Peace for me. Love the live version and this was a strong one I thought.

    I see what you mean about Gloria but it's nearly there with Beautiful Day for me....
