We still want your review, Chris!
  2. I'm in, could start to write a review immediately...listened to it many times, like all of us, I suppose.
  3. Hi everyone, no problem at all. I've definitely been a little late to the party lately. No worries at all. Love the round table and everyone here! Thanks for the inclusion.

    Here we go:

    2005-12-05 - Boston, Massachusetts - Fleet Center

    Sound:

I thought the sound was par. There really wasn't anything that special about the recording. Bono's voice is pretty clear but can't say this was his best performance, although not bad. The rest of the band is there but not pronounced.

    Performance:

The show has a nice Christmas feel but I think overall the band was just going through the motions. I can see how they may have been somewhat burned out at this point. Afterall they had played this arena so many times during the tour. Another thing about this show was that this was snippet mania! I've always loved them and this show had tons. Norwegian Wood, Rock The Casbah, Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) and many more. Just badass

Standouts were Gloria, Instant Karma, Bullet the Blue Sky (I've really gotten back into this one due to U23D!), Until the End of the World. Really loved to see UTEOTW return to the setlist during the latter half of the tour.

    Overall:

I just realozed that this setlist was almost identical to the show I saw in Charlotte 1 week later. Except without the massive amounts of snippets and a few songs like Crumbs and Instant Karma. I was beside myself at the Charlotte show as I stood in amazement. So I'm not going to really blast this show because I simply can see how awesome it definitely would have been if I were there. Maybe the boot just doesnt resinate as well as the show actually went over.

This is defintely a bootleg for anyone who was there and I would have been glad to be there. Just not going to be one of the dates I'm going to come back to, time after time.

Would have still given my right leg to be there though

    Rating: 6 out of 10
  4. I'm not banned from the BRT am I? Because I do love this next show *seriously* and wanna review it for the video which I, co-incidentally, ripped a few weeks ago! OK...as an edit, I did download the upgrade, listened to it once or twice to get a real feel for it, and I will re-rate the show now that it sounds so much better and had more life to it...so the new rating for me is:

    6/10

This could be a run-off from my annoyances earlier in the day with stuff, and I took it out on the bootleg. Alright then, Original of the Species, Gloria and Until The End of the World aren't really regulars...and were on par with the later RotW shows, impressive stuff. But if the band had gone straight into South America a week afterwards, I would have said those shows sounded poor - but the break did them well.

About to do my speech here...so get ready...

As well, thank you to all those who reviewed the show and agreed / disagreed with my review - I see it got a fair few of you guys fired up. It's good to know that you are allowed to say what you like about a show and not be persecuted for it - it actually makes me glad to know, that as a U2 fan, we're allowed to express our opinions. And I do respect all your views because we are one, but we are not the same and I guess that's what makes us unique around here. Sure, I've heard worse than a 2.5 rating, but this could be down to not the song choice (it's a nice consistent list) but any other number of factors, such as difficulty of hearing out of either speaker, dropping out at any one point, Vertigo-burnout as mentioned by someone. Even sometimes the speeches may be worth hearing - such as that of the South Bend 2001 one if you've ever heard it about the retrovirus drugs etc.

Correct. It's not like the people in Boston would be the ones in Chicago (not likely, maybe several dozen may be the same mob), so they're not worrying about hearing the speeches because they haven't heard it before, only on the DVDs if they've even watched those before.

Originally posted by Ali709• Vertigo, powerful, I liked the bit in the middle “everybody gets out of here…ALIVE!!”, and the snippets are cool.
    • ISHFWILF, the little Edge comment in the beginning is hilarious, again the snippet it cool, The Promised Land , nice crowd too.
    • Miss Sarajevo, the speech in the beginning makes all the difference. The Opera part is pretty well done too.

It was a standard show, nothing too brilliant. But I stick to my guns saying that if I was at the front, I'd try, if possible at all, to get them to play something or snippet something they haven't for a while. Do they take requests?

Originally posted by djrlewisYeah, I get that. And by all means rate the sound 0.5 / 5 if you like (some of the Boy boots come to mind...)

I just don't think that any performance of U2 I've come across is worthy of less than 5/10.

One I can remember (the audio and viewing) was Basel '93...I apparently have a poor upgrade, and it shows.

    As it is.

It's not Ali's fault in any way whatsoever...he chose it, but he probably didn't expect anything so harsh to be said for it. By all means, whenever my shot comes then you can rate that whatever you want, because we all have individual opinions, and not just tending to agree for the sake of agreement and decreasing what could turn ugly.
  5. Crap, looks like my file for Bad is corrupt. Anyone have one that works? Or are we waiting for the upgrade from Gerard?

    Cheers
  6. Looks like I missed all the drama today! Has this been one of the most controversial BRT discussions? If so, I'm glad to have been a part of it. This is truly what geeky, obsessive U2 fandom is all about! I really enjoyed participating my first go round and would like to be included in the next one. I downloaded it over the weekend!
  7. I have the lossless in my possession. I'll rate and convert later. I think it would be best if everyone waits for the audio that I upload just so that we are all working of the same page

    Will do.

It's great fun, isn't it? I loved being able to debate about the show.

Where else can you do it? We're all at home here.
  11. You couldn't do it elsewhere. It's a great, great idea...and it even gives us ideas on new shows to try every week or so, recommended by any user, but here you can read about them and decide whether it's worth your time and effort or leave it alone.

By the way, your input has been great so far.
  12. oh yes we have an upgrade on the way. I'll have it uploaded tonight hopefully (definitey no later than tomorrow)
