1. Disagree about Kite, but SYCMIOYO, especially live...have to say I'm with you guys lol.

  2. Don't get me wrong, I adore Kite. One of the best songs ever for me. I know Yeah's opinion about the cheesy lyrics, but that's just a personal way of interpretation.

SYCMIOYO is good, especially in the studio. Live is a bit too flat.

It's not only the lyrics. It's also the music and Bono's singing style. Complete fail.

    In my book that is.

    Allright, fair enough.

SYCMIOYO is one of my favourite studio songs, for me, it's just incredible on HTDAAB. However, it's really slimmed down and loses a lot when live, partly because of Edge's guitar - I know it's something I keep going on about, but it just has nothing to it, no anything, and the song loses so much because of it. Doesn't help I've yet to hear a live version where Bono nails the lyrics like he does on the album...

Each to their own m'man, everyone's allowed their opinion and I respect that . Personally, if I was at a show and they played Kite, I'd be pretty chuffed BUT that's my take

I agree, the edge's ringing guitar especially in the last chorus really adds to the song.

The vocals on the album version are also a lot tighter that the live versions.
Also the live versions don't have anything additional over the album version.

And what's wrong with Kite, they should drop Pride and BTBS before they drop Kite (they rarely play it anyway).
They should also keep at least one warhorse song, I say SBS because it's the best.

And you can't drop signature songs like One or With or Without You, people will want their money back. But I would love to see them sing songs like Ultraviolet again, or a proper version of Stay, but it'll never happen.
Someone should try writing to the band to find out their thoughts on the matter.

I don't think you need to write to the band to find out their thoughts on the matter.
All you have to do is look at the setlist patterns from the last couple of tours.
Classics were extremely well represented but they also found space to rotate rarely playeds and/or vintage tunes or give them short runs ie Out of Control, Electric Co., An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart, The Ocean, Gloria, Wild Horses, The First Time, '40', Miss Sarajevo, Discotheque; even throwing in A Sort Of Homecoming and In God's Country and Please on those very rare occasions.

In fact, the Vertigo Tour was probably the most diverse in that all albums were represented in its many and varied setlists. Not since the 80's had that happened I suspect. I hope that trend continues only other songs are rotated in and out.
