1. Did i had a U2-burnout..? Not that i can remember
  2. Yep, I did have one. Last year I had a small one. I listened to their big hits to much, so I decided to listen to other artists like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam, and even Bon Jovi..
But then I came to this site, and I was able to download bootlegs and rare performances and so on. I never get a U2-burnout from now on I think

U2 is basically 4 different bands in one if you split up their career that way. If you get sick of one era, you can try another and that may be enough to cure the burnout. Trying some of the many songs I've never heard is how I got to be obsessed with Pop, Zooropa, and the last third of both Achtung Baby and ATYCLB.

That's true, it's hard to get a U2 burnout because of the contrasts in their music, when I get burned of Zoo TV I change to Joshua Tree, then Elevation, then to their early punk days, they sound so different but still are the same thing, it's hard to explain how they do it.

  4. Every once in a while get tired of U2 when there is no news or possbile leak of someting new to come.
  5. I've been a U2 fan since 1983. I have also had periods of burnout. Because of the length of time I've been a fan it's impossible to listen to U2 all the time without it. I do agree though, that if you get burned out with one U2 era, then move to the next. There were times that I took a few months off from listening. Now I can just listen to live boots, and have a enjoyable time.

Mostly now, I'm burned out from the over played U2 songs. Vertigo, COBL, SBS and so on. I have a friend with a U2 tribute band here in Chicago that plays very often and I help out with and hearing those songs over and over again burns me out and I tend to stick to the B-sides or rarely heard songs.

About 2 months ago I got XM radio and tend to listen to the Alternative stations (Lucy, Ethel, Fred) and once in a while, U2 comes on....alot of times they play rarely heard U2 songs which really surprises me and I'm happy to listen...but there are some other stations that play those songs that you've heard a million time over and you wanna scream. I just change the station.

So after all that, do I get U2 burnout? I do... but I always come back and have for the past 24 years. There's no chasing me away!!
  6. Yeah i did, during the vertigo tour. mainly becuase i started to get into the stone roses and th smiths in a big way, also beacuse i didnt get into the album to much either. dont get me wrong, they were still my fav. band, but until about a year ago i wasnt listening to them much! now im back about 95% of the music i listen to know is the larry mullen band.
  7. I'll get song burnout (Pride springs to mind) but I've never had band burnout. As other posters have said there's too much variety. But I won't listen every day and this keeps it fresh.

Not dissimilar to this site...... can't keep away. No chance of burnout here, always something new to talk about, even when there's no U2 news!!
  8. I have usually a Song burnout or a Tour/Leg Burnout (for example, Pride and One, or Zooropa's Leg) but never a Whole U2 Burnout. Though there are day where I wake up with another group on mind, so I barely listen to U2 that day. That's the maximum burnout I ever had.

Here is a good example of die-hard U2 fan.

  10. Had a big burnout for months now, listened to some U2 but not that much. Snow Patrol and some other artist is all I listened to last months.

Until today..put Mexico Popmart on my phone yesterday. Started to listen to Mofo and EBTTRT today and the U2-smile was back on my face. Imagined myself being in Brussels in September and U2 starts to play Mofo, against all odds.

Glad there is some U2-joy coming back. It's about time.
  11. Now that i think about, i always play music on my computer... Even just as background when i'm not on my pc...
And often i think "oh well let me just listen to something else now" and shuffle ALL the music on my pc... But i always caught myself skipping to a U2-song when there's another artist playing
  12. I essentially bounce back and forth between U2 and Radiohead. That's about it these days and, come to think of it, it's been that way for quite some time now.

I try to listen to new music,,,doesn't take. I'll listen to Oasis or The Beatles (no, I'm not putting them on the same level) but after listening to either of them for a half hour or so, I find myself yearning for something from Achtung Baby or OK Computer.

Thought I should add that U2 gets more listens than Radiohead. Also, U2 does a better job of bringing their songs to life in concert. Radiohead is very tight (amazing how they bring the studio to the stage) but U2 make their albums seem so much better live.
