    My mate (ther CD one!) does that and it makes a huge difference to his journey. Ups his average speed by 5mph.

    I know. It really would. With the knobbly tyres on only half the rubber makes contact with the tarmac meaning that literally half my peddling work is wasted. I can feel the tyres holding me back. So frustrating.

    Have you got clip pedals or traditional? That can make quite a difference too and you can pick up a set of decent shoes and pedals for £80 or so.

    you know i've never checked. They are just metal spiked jobs. I also need a front sprocket guard because the teeth on it are so sharp. I've wrecked many pairs of trousers and scraped my leg so many times.

    These are belters:-



    You can use them as standard pedals with your trainers etc; or you can get clip-in shoes



    to slot in. Then you can get decent movement on the upstroke too.
  6. i'll have to get a look at those for when I hit the mountains. Nothing worse than a foot slipping off the peddle during a clunky gear change. Do you have the thumb switch gear shifter? How cool are they. Thats my favorite thing about the bike (apart from the brakes)

    They're priceless on the hill, no doubt.

    I do have those and they're amazing. I used to have twist-shifters on my last bike which were a nightmare.

    And I've never had discs before..... OMG

    Twisters were brutal to use. One clunk with the thumb and bang, you know which gear your in. Fantastic. This bike was my first with discs also. They are just stunning. I've tweaked mine so that an absolute murder yank on the lever will stop me in the shortest distance humanly possile. I do like to lock the back wheel up every now and again though
