    No offense intended! I'm completely ignorant of the sport, so i really can't make fun of it. I've always wondered why baseball doesn't adopt the flat bats--it seems so much easier than the skinny ones we've got. One of the many advatnages to cricket, I'm sure.

    maybe not the best championship [basketball] ever, but in my lifetime its up there (nothing will top the Red Sox [baseball] winning in '04)

    No offence taken trust me. While a flat bat is obviously easier to hit a ball with than a round one, it needs to be remembered that cricket bowlers bounce the ball on the pitch before it gets to the batsman which raises the degrees of difficulty significantly. Because the ball can bounce, it can also spin off the pitch which is not something you see in baseball.

    Interesting. So the bat sort of fits the way the pitcher pitches it. Sounds more difficult than I pictured it to be.

    Must be exciting to watch as well. How big is cricket is Australia? If you guys are the best, I'm assuming it's nearly as big as soccer/football?

    While soccer/football is a religion in many countries, cricket is ours to a large extent. I guess our climate suits, it's heavily reliant on good weather for five days straight in the longer version of the game. It's our national sport. Give us a backyard, a bat and ball and we're all set. Many hours of enjoyment around the barbecue. But in India they're fanatical!

    That's great. Much like our baseball here in the States (though some would argue American football is taking its place--i beg to differ. ).
