The large stone thing is something called a Trig Point. They're found on the top of pretty much all UK main mountains and are used in some way that I don't understand for the Ordanance Survey who do our maps.
The mountain is Helvellyn, the 3rd highest in England (a lot of the Scottish mountains are higher).
There is no view was part of the point, but the other was that there is snow!! Very exciting.
Awesome...exciting indeed, when will you go for skiing? My friends are going to the Alborz (the ones north of tehran, near my university) mountains next week.
