    this is kinda Indoor Intimacy against Outdoor Rocking as far as types of shows come. It depends on what you prefer. However, when Elevation was brought outside....there was this one show that highlighted the tour.......

    Ah, y'see, I prefer Outdoor Rocking Songs like WTSHNN, WOWY and WGRYWH really come alive in the big arenas just as much as the slower more intimate stuff. I also think that it was representative of how the band felt at the time. Coming off the back of Pop, where they felt they'd let people down in some respects (hence Bono's quote of "re-applying for best band in the world"), they felt they really need to regain the trust of the fans, whereas during Vertigo, they were on a high and Bono was on a roll as far as his own personal work was going, so they felt pretty good about themselves

    That's not really fair lol, considering Slane was one of the best shows the band have ever done, yet wasn't necessarily a good representation of the tour as a whole (in my opinion). On the other hand, Buenos Aires was Vertigo at its best in many ways, which (in my opinion) happened fairly frequently. Check the Milan show and Sao Paulo as (what I'd consider to be) other good examples

    i think someone said it on the forums, decribing the way With or Without you was song with special emotion and bono had directed it towards Adam, beleiving it was the last gig they were going to play. Hard to remember what thread though.

    preferences change one's thoughts about a show in a big way.

    I've always liked indoor shows, and the feeling they bring. reminds me of the Who's 1971 tour in a lot of ways. the only boot you can hear this tho is 1971-11-29.

    you're right with the Slane thing.... however Elevation was a two part tour, just as PopMart and Zoo TV are divided as well. Elevation has the 1st and 2nd Leg shows where it was getting back their status and best band in the world. The 3rd leg was so intimate and carried so much meaning to the band and audience, the shows became almost a dream like state

    Indeed. Thing is, I like both tours, so it's the best of both worlds

    What I mean though, is that shows like Buenos Aires etc. were representative of what was good about the Vertigo tour whereas Slane was what was good about U2, if you get me - Slane was U2 through and through, whereas Buenos Aires was a depiction of U2 in one of their many guises over the years, it wasn't so much about the legs or what have you (although having manic South Americans like Johnny in the crowd didn't harm matters )...

    you can't have enough reasons to watch Zoo TV. Tuesday night ofter my Karoke set seems a good time to sit and watch it alone in the house
