Had a small animal day today - placed a pan-carpal arthrodesis plate on a Rhodesian Ridgeback that broke it's carpus and metacarpi in an RTA. Also castrated a cat and clipped a parrots claws, amongst other things...

You any plans for the weekend? Please don't tell me you're working again

How long is that procedure? Sounds intense, with the carpus and metcarpi is that a forelimb? or is it the same for all four legs? (sorry trying to remember if its anything like human bones!) oh nice! never seen a parrot claw clipping, can it be difficult?
Nah dont worry big boss man, im having a gentle weekend hopefully go out tonight and carry on, having a big one on monday (st pattys) so looking forward to that! haha, then i go home in a week for mid semester break! SO excited
    you got many plans?

Took a couple hours. The carpi/metacarpi are the forelimb (tarsi/metatarsi for hindlimb). It is pretty intense, but gratifying when they walk after on a leg that just flapped before.

Yes, parrots are a nightmare. Bite all the time...

Glad to hear it. I'm on duty Monday night, so no St Patrick celebrations for me. I'll sink some Guiness tomorrow instead watching Wales (hopefully) win the Grand Slam against France in the 6 Nations.
Then a hill walk and cinema on Sunday I think.
