Hey Maura, what's MLS like standards wise? We always here it's not of the highest standard over here in the UK, but I'd rather hear the opinion of someone who actually watches it firsthandby the way, if you catch the Fire playing Toronto, both Jim Brennan and Carl Robinson used to play for my club Norwich
Hey Harry,
As for the MLS, to me its a pretty good league. Its the only soccer I've grown up watching since soccer is hardly televised in the US. People who usually watch the Premier League say that MLS is crap, but I don't think they actually give it a chance. I think we have some talented players coming in through MLS. Its really sad to see many of our players go over to Europe and not play for an extended period of time in the MLS. I think that is one thing that really hurts our League. But I totally understand why the players do do this :there's more money, better soccer tradition, and the competition is better. The players are paid literally nickels and dimes around here.
As for the games, in Chicago we have an extremely loyal fan base. The section is called Section 8, which are the rowdie bunch who stand, chant, and are even known to light a few (or many) flares.
I think the MLS is only going to get better. I believe its been around for 12 years. The Fire started in '98 and since then we have increased our fan base (there was 15,000 last night on a rainy day).
If u want to talk more, maybe we should do it in the Football/soccer topic, bc I know how people don't like it around here when you post in the wrong topic! . LOL
