  2. Todays the one year aniversary of the Virgina Tech masscre. I had just come home from school when I heard about it. I remember thinking the opening line of SBS. "I cant believe the news today-"

    I remember sitting in my room listening to the radio and plinking on my acoustic - when the news came through, everything seemed to stand still

    Just so shocking...

    I didn't sleep well that night, just thinking about it...

    It was just like coming from from school on 9/11, walking through the front door with my brother back from the bus stop, dad was pasty faced and just said "go watch the TV"...
  4. I tried writing a song about it. It was too hard. makes me appreciate song like SBS and POE more. They must have been very hard to write.

    I hear what you mean about trying to write lyrics - I usually have so much trouble just coming up with lyrics etc., I find it easier to write musical stuff, but a couple of weeks back I got something onto paper that worked, which was a bit of a landmark for me. I'd just read the bit in U2 by U2 where Bono talks about how bitter a song POE and what influenced it, and it inspired me to do the same. I'd been having some problems in my own life, so I tried to channel them into something constructive, and for the first time in my life I actually developed the ideas and wrote something worthy of being considered lyrics. It saddened me in a way though, because what I had was just really dark and bitter, which aren't words I'd usually used to describe myself at a person, but it really hit home how much certain things can affect a person...
