Perhaps any song suggestions from varying genres? I'm hoping to expand my musical horizon. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

check out Rufus Wainwright and Antony and the Johnsons....two of my favorites, they will definitely broaden your horizons!

should also check out Leonard Cohen if you haven't, probably the best song writer alive

Will do. It's come to my attention that Rock (the best genre) has gotten all of my attention, while everything else has been shut out.

So you're looking for NOT ROCK?! Does that include 'alternative'
rap? country? hip-hop? folk? world? classical? Sorry if everyone else here knows what you listen to.

The Who, the Rolling Stones, Led Zep, the Raconteurs, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, CSNY, Jack Johnson, the Kooks, Queen, Simon and Garfunkel and U2 (they had to be mentioned). Just curious, if anyone can answer this, why is Pink Floyd such a big deal?

    wait, I'm lost now...
  11. That's quite alright. I don't mind if others know what I listen to. That's what makes you your own person anyway. If you want to include Alternative, awesome. Reasonable genres, like the ones featured on various radio stations (i.e. country, hip hop, r&b, jazz, folk, etc.). However world, traditional and classical I will wait for much later on in life.
  12. I've never really gotten into PF either. I mean I probably got high and listened to The Wall once or twice in college but beyond that... nothin'.

As far as expanding your musical horizons... I love:
The Police - you know who they are, RIGHT?
    Billy Bragg - English Folk/Punk
Wilco - alt. country-ish (some of it)
The Clancy Brothers - Irish Folk
The Putamayo World Music collections - especailly the Brazilia one *drools over samba*

Other 'rock/alt' stuffI like that's kinda different: Kings of Leon and The Shins. I'm also liking Kate Nash (I don't know if boys like her AT ALL)

Don't know if I'm helping at all

ooh oooh oooh - I LOVE Fiona Apple's album "Extraordinary Machine". It's like nothing I've ever heard in my life and I just adore it.
