    Not medical.

Seriously, how I lost it was working in a call centre for five weeks for eight hours a day. And that has shot it badly.

On my profile the last one was my real job. The first two are just part time for fun.

In air-con as well no doubt - shit for the throat.

That will explain how you got your hands on an iPhone pre-release as well then....

    Excuse my ignorance - what's HTPC? - I assume it's IT related?

I kept asking for the air-con to be switched off because it was too cold but when there's 40 others against you to keep it on it ain't easy...unfortunately they booted me out before I could get my hands on an iPhone. It was an advance model another guy had that I was playing with, but I wish I could get an iPhone. Very, very cool but no carrier officially supports it here yet. I will get one next year though.

As for the HTPC, that stands for the ultra-geeky Home Theatre Personal Computer. Mine runs Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 with a soon to come big LCD screen. It also has high-definition TV built-in and the entire thing cost me around $700 to build as compared with HP and Acer systems for upwards of $2500 and more.

    Mine looks more like this:

  6. just finished updating my trade list. Took ages

    Nice.

Is this the sort of thing that Apple are trying to muscle in on with the mac mini being HDMI compatible (via a £15 gizmo), Front Row and the Apple TV?

Yep, and to be honest it really isn't anything fantastic. AppleTV is just a giant iPod with HDMI. It's taken Microsoft almost six years to get it right, and then in Windows Vista, they literally ruined it.

This is Media Centre 2005. Looks nice, and simple. It is.

The above one is Vista's version. Ugly, slow and crashes an awful lot.

As much as Apple makes nice and simple products Front Row and Apple TV are overly simple and not fun to use. MCE is at least a little colourful and more fun. But I'd take a Mac over Windows anyday, particuarly for the Final Cut Pro software.
