  3. I love the MTV unplugged album and to a lesser extent the best of cant claim to know many of the album tracks.

  6. Showing my age here, saw them in 1992 (u2 and Nirvana in the space of 2 months) loved them and still listen to them every now and then. Was gutted when Kurt died, had a ticket to see them in 1994 too.
  7. Maybe someone of the crew could re-name it to General Nirvana topic or so? Would be nice

    I'm somehow not-so-young anymore either, Matt... but hey, we are wiser, aren't we
    I clearly remember the day Kurt shot himself. I was visiting the USA at that time, being an 11th grade exchange student. I was no Nirvana fan at all , I had only heard the standard noise and loud screaming and always changed the radio station when they came up.
    That day, we were spending the day at Venice Beach, and the only person of our German group who had a portable CD player at that time was a huge Nirvana fan. She heard on the news that Kurt was dead, broke into tears - and played her Nirvana cd all day long on the beach. So... we were all forced to listen. And for me, it really meant listen .
    I was hooked.
    When I returned home weeks later, I got my first Nirvana cd, "Nevermind". It is one of my top five albums of all times to this day. Great piece.
    MTV unplugged holds true gems.

    Too sad they're not around anymore, but maybe they are what they are... because they are not anymore.
    However, I'll always be a Nirvana fan.

  8. I recently discovered the band for 2 months ago of some clips seeing from VIVA Germany of their last concert in Munich '94 and I was now on totally fan of them

    Three reissue DVD-s is a must have, especially Reading '92 with rarites like D-7 and Spank Thru, but the Paramount Theatre gig is also good because of the cinema widescreen and MTV LIve and Loud is full of In Utero songs which is great

    An amazing story, MacStripey!

    I discovered Nirvana just months after Kurt passed and for the next 2 years Nirvana was pretty much all I listened to. Their music doesn't speak to me the way it did back then, but it would be wierd if it did, I am quite happy that I am not a frustrated teenager any more. I seldom play Nirvana nowadays and if, than it is the Unplugged, but I think they were absolutely outstanding.

    Their music carried a very strong message that came through very clearly. Plus eventhough it might seem like mostly a big noise most of the time, Kurt had a very strong sense for melody and a lot of their tunes are actually sort of cachy with very strong and memorable guitar riffs.
