When John McCain congratulated Obama for reaching the White House being AfAm, and congratulated the whole nation to allow that... wow What about when Obama thanked McCain for having fought that hard for his country? OMG... Such a great night it was for me... I was nervous at the beggining, but news were coming and coming and I felt HAPPY

Congrats to all of you involved in making such a change possible. Thanks

First they piss over each other and afterwards they thank and praise each other....politics..

  2. haha yea, McCain didn't look too happy though
  3. I'm glad all this voting stuff is over, because honestly? I had enough of seeing obama and mccain everywhere as if the election was actually happening in my country. however, I'm glad obama won and even though I'm sceptical about the promised changes, I wish america the best

Couldn't said it better...this complete election-period is one big commercial monster. Just watched The Daily Show: they've started it TWO years ago! It's insane and has absolutely nothing to do with politics.
It got almost as much attention as our own elections: that's truly unbelievable to me. And when I see that my classmates hardly know any Dutch politicians, but do know how the kids of Obama are named, then I get the feeling as if the world's gone mad...

I kinda liked these days because they were exciting, while electing the president of Slovak Republic doesn't actually mean very much and our presidnet is unimportant...he's here just to welcome some important guests from abroad like Elizabeth II. a couple of days ago

We thank the brave nation who made the brave choice

People have an obsession with our country, not really sure why lol
And speaking of The Daily Show: I was watching their coverage of the elections(I trust Jon and Stephen more than the big new channels ) when I found out Barack had won, and I have to say, it was a memorable moment,my heart stopped. It really did.We have a black President!!!!I really never thought I would see that.My faith in society has gone up a bit. This is one of the few times where I can honestly say I'm proud to be an American But, I do apologize to all of you guys who don't live here lol

Hopefully this is the last we'll hear about Sarah "You-Betcha" Palin

lol...you don't have to apologize: it isn't the fault of the American people: I blame the media. Not only American media, also the Dutch media...
BTW I saw the same show. Love the way that dude says: 'But Bush is still president for 2 and a half months!'

So your thrilled because hes black? I guess you dont care about how good he'd be or anything else trivial.(I love how we get along in all the other topics, but we can always argue here)

  9. I wish he was leaving tomorrow. I really hope he sits on his hands for the next 76 days, but I have my doubts. I think Bush still has one more big f-up in him.

Does a wild bear crap in the woods? Of course he does.
  11. It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

    Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

    Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

    Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.

Yes we can repair this world.

    Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.

Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea --

    Yes. We. Can.
