1. Ali, I've been following this, and it's just terrible what's been going on. That girl Neda...it's fucked up, I just want you to know you're in our thoughts, even if it doesn't mean much

Yeah, it is a fairly confusing site. It's against the use of music as torture. Y'know, like how they played songs really loud at Guantanamo and other places worldwide as a form of legal torture. This campaign is against it. Zero decibels=silence.

I'm personally for using heavy metal as torture. If thats the worst thing an interogator does to you, you should consider yourself lucky. Hell, alot of people would pay to listen to loud music for 10 hours.

    Are you joking?
Interrogators should never torture, even if it is loud music.

  4. Lets be realistic. I'm not saying it will, but if you knew torturing one man could prevent another 9/11 you would still be against it?

The probability of such a scenario appearing is 0

  6. I didn't say it was likely. I said it could happen.
  7. I gotta agree with Ryan here. Torture isn't cool. We as a country are better than that

No, I'd be glad to torture Bush with whatever thing I could. Loud country music included. )
  9. Well, they won't be torturing stupid felons or something frivolous like that. If you've done something bad enough to get to a place such as Guantanamo where they do actually torture, I think that you have deserved it. I'm not lobbying for torture at all, but if it can help get information or prevent something catastrophic like Aaron mentioned, I think it should be used.

I don't want to get into a "discussion," I won't be checking this topic for a few days.

  10. But it's quite useless to think about it since it will never happen lol.

And after all: none of us ever has to torture anyone, since there are people who are trained for that.

And torture is an method that might worked 100 years ago...but doesnt really work in a modern democracy, does it now?
Ever noticed that the countries where punishments like torture and the death penalty are countries with problems?
Look at northern Europe, the best democracy's in the world are here (Sweden, Norway, Germany, Holland, Denmark). Why? No guns allowed, no torture, no death penalty. No president with veto.

And yes, those are actually facts...

Anyone saw Neda? The girl who was shot for no reason?

I'm not posting the youtube video here as it might be disturbing for some...those interested can find it, just search.

I don't know where this is headed to...the streets are very much controlled, Saturday was like an unofficial martial law (it is forbidden in Iranian constitution). Many people killed, the scenes and the stories are horrifying...and the opposition still has more plans for the days to come...I hope it doesn't turn into a civil war...I wish the "supreme leader" had been wiser in his Friday talk

Meanwhile...still the SMS is shut down for almost 2 weeks now...many sites filtered, yesterday even yahoo mail was unavailable.

Today, I was reading plans of street marchs by people...seeing reactions of people, scared of going to the streets...and the lyrics of Breathe shouted in my head:

Every day I have to find the courage
To walk out into the street
    With arms out
Got a love you can't defeat
    Neither down or out
There's nothing you have that I need
    I can breathe

    ...

    Walk out into the street
    Sing your heart out
    The people we meet
    Will not be drowned out
There's nothing you have that I need
    I can breathe
    Breathe now
    Yeah, yeah

Ali mate, my thoughts are with you and I hope against hope that things work out for the best - it's awful. Please take care and I'm sure everyone's hoping the powers that be can come to sense and bring peace to what's going on right now.

    ...you'll never walk alone...

We tortured/abused many for reasons that weren't important, or for reasons of race. Ex- Yasser Ebrahim, Hany Ibrahim.
